Kentaro Miura, a Japanese manga artist best known for his popular dark fantasy manga Berserk, has died of acute aortic dissection on May 6, 2021. He was 54 years old.

It's a sad day for any fan Berserk series, one of the greatest if not the best manga in the business, such a great world build, really a dark fantasy masterpiece.

RIP Kentaro.

32 years of publishing and now a masterpiece has been left without its ending.
it's heartbreaking to hear, and it's even more saddening that the news only came 2 weeks later after his passing.
i hope his family and fan of the series could stay strong for his sake... for Guts's sake

Nooooooo!!!!!! Now we'll never know if Guts will ever get his revenge on Griffith..... At least Guts seemed somewhat in peace in the end. Such a shame, both for Kentaro and Berserk, but releasing one or two chapters a year, somewhat expected, we would've all grown old and passed away before seeing the end of this unfinished masterpiece. I even looked up in the past what would've happed in such a scenario, and I believe them mentioning something about passing the work to a friend or something. Still it will never be the same. RIP Kentaro. ╥﹏╥

Such a shame. Rest in piece Kentaro Miura. I have re-read Berserk multiple times in past 15 years whilst waiting for new chapters. Last year I even got the first printed book (my first printed manga ever) from the Deluxe edition of Berserk. Now it's probably going to remain an unfinished story.

I stopped caring about the revenge story a long time ago and just wanted Guts and Casca to get their flawed forever ever after. With recent chapters I can at least pretend they might have gotten that.

Berserk is really important to me so this hits harder than anything. Found out about it today on my birthday too, almost like a cosmic prank.

I was devastated to hear the news, such a great author...

I've grown a big fan of the series in very little time.
I just feel like we lost one of the greatest manga artists of this century and it feels horrible to know nothing will ever be this great.

At least I have this motivational video to keep going... At least. But it just hits harder now...
