Destiny 2 Open Access Week

To celebrate the launch of Destiny 2: Renegades, we are inviting players to another Open Access Week alongside its release.

From December 2 at 9 AM PT to December 9 at 9:59 AM PT, all currently available Destiny 2 expansions, raids, dungeons, and content packs will be available to play at no cost on all supported storefronts (Steam, PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store for Xbox and PC, and Epic Games Store).

Open Access Week includes the content of the following products:

  • The Edge of Fate Standard Edition
  • Destiny 2: Legacy Collection
  • All currently available dungeons

All currencies, weapons, armor, Titles, Triumphs, and cosmetics that players earn during this week will be theirs to keep forever. Have fun, make it count, and don't forget to tell your friends!

Oooo! So, if I understand, the base game is free to play, but normally you pay for unlocking extra content, and this week you don't. Cool!

How much bigger does the game get with all this unlocked? 20%? 50%? Is this already a go-to game for you?

Yeah its like bit of everything to try with the older campaigns and open world are free, and it's a moving goal post as newer dlc is added more of the older content is is added to the free pool. It is a very generous amount to play free to see if the game is for you or not, after that you either buy more content or play during the free week events. I just recently won some content so i have been playing the final shape campaign but other than that i mainly come back to it during the holiday events.

This reminds me of the Statue of Liberty effect. It's not usual for native NYers to have never gone to the island. Tourists commonly go, because that trip is their one chance. For native NYers, visiting the island never makes it to priority status.

Free Access weeks/weekends create false urgency... but it's sort of a useful false urgency.
