I was really looking forward to it, but then it got lots of bad press. Did you like it, or was it disappointing?

Heavy Rain got a ton of bad press aswell and was one of my favorite ps3 games next to beyond. If you are looking for an amazing story with very cool gameplay then definately check it out. No its not COD where you run around shooting things. It is a choice and story driven game My only wish is that it was for PC so I could replay it after I sold my ps3. Games like this have and always will not get great scores because people just want action, If you want a great story check it out.
PS you get to play as Ellen Page how can it be bad :D

It got a lot of bad press because the reviewers are retards. The game doesn't hold your hand and present you with clear choices. You find them on your own.

I'd play the shit out of that game if I owned a console. But I'll never own a console, so you need to play it for me.

One of the best PS3 games hands down and the reason why I havent sold my console yet. Heavy Rain, Demon's Souls, The Last of Us and Beyond are the type of games that you keep coming back to.

Commence the attacks on me, I didn't know who Ellen Page was until I read about the famous "shower" scene in this game and her reaction to it.

Also the game is good. Just good.

Look up the movie "Hard Candy" then.

Better yet, look up "Juno".

Juno was way more mainstream then Hard Candy, and most everyone has seen it already. That's why I suggested Hard Candy. It was the film that made me a huge fan of Ellen Page. She did such an amazing job!

That's exactly the reason to watch Juno first. It's easier to digest and many people have already seen it so they can easily remember who Ellen Page is. Incidentally people can recall her in Inception and X-Men: The Last Stand. Hard Candy on the other hand, while being a gret film, is not something you name to remember someone an actor.

I really liked the game, it was a good length, and kept me really interested throughout the entire length of the game.

There are almost no consequences of my actions in the game which is BS since they did it so well in Heavy Rain.

I have a feeling David Cage is the next Peter Molyneux.

"The first order of business here is: exactly how many endings are there in Beyond: Two Souls? Well, David Cage himself reckons there are 23. We think that’s slightly generous: there are 23 possible variables that affect the final story (leaving some characters alive and others dead, for example), but we count 11 distinct finales to the story."

Is that not enough?

I am not talking about the endings only, it's the in-game consequences. It felt more like I was pushing button to get to the ending. Does Jodie become more bitchy if I make a young Jodie act like a brat? Nope.

The game is much more linear than Heavy Rain and I felt so fucking passive while playing it. I just wanted to play my Ukulele instead of going to a test lab for fuck's sake!

The game has consequences, for instance almost getting raped ruins the dinner.

you mean the bar sequence? the one when there's no way to avoid killing those biker guys? killing them guys was the only way to do proceed which was BS.

You could wait and they'd escape. Or you could leave the bar before anything happens. Alternatively there are several opportunities to get cought on your way to the bar and not get there in the first place.

I don't own a PS3, but this looks like the kind of game you can watch the "movie" version of on YouTube and not really miss out on much.

You'd miss out a lot just watching it on YouTube. Mostly because the game is not about getting to the end but rather about a character growth.

I'd say it's masterpiece. Finished it a few days ago. The game is amazing and worth it.

The game is quite good but a step down from Heavy Rain in my opinion. Your decisions barely influence the story and you're brought to the same conclusion regardless of your actions. Heavy Rain on the other hand had about 20 different endings with a story that vastly changes with each play through.

I've actually reviewed both Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls in-depth on youtube.

I think another major factor would be the sense of urgency. In Heavy Rain, there were many points in the game where you knew there would be consequences, and you had to act on the fly. In Beyond, it just felt as though it didn't really matter what you did, and because of that, became less of an enjoyable experience.

Yeah, definitely. The fact that Beyond Two Souls isn't in chronological order kind of ruined that "sense of urgency" as well. You're unable to see the direct results of your decisions, events in the future have no impact on the past so it kind of ruins the pacing. You're also able to fail every single quick time event and still make it to the end. Which wasn't really the case in Heavy Rain.

That's because this story is not about events but about people.

Nope. It was disappointing for me, and i liked Heavy Rain. Has some interesting things goin on: great visual design, amazing graphics and music, few interesting chapters but... but the story is ridiculous, there's something about the writing that made me laugh in several occasions, i ended up not caring for the characters...
I expected more, but it was a big let down for me. You could try it, maybe you'll like it. :)
Cage has very good ideas but a huge ego, he needs someone who can help him criticize and brainstorm all of his thinking.

No. Just click the button and script. And click another button and another script. Tic Tac Toe is more fun...
But if you are not interested in playing but watching pausing movie you can enjoy it.

That was disappointing for me. After Fahrenheit and Heavy Rain it's step back for Quantic Dream. Yes, it's better than some shitty games we play, but for people who play many games and watch movies this game is definitely not masterpiece. Fallout 2 is masterpiece, Max Payne is too for shooter. It looks like B-movie for me. Played one time and forgot.

So terribly overrated, like most of Qauntic Dream's "games". The first few hours are really engaging and show an interesting story. But it slowly progresses to predictable and outrageous plot points (I'm looking at you navajo scene.) and is just plain boring past the half way point.

Great game, beaten it several times already.

Your best bet would be to rent it from a Redbox or borrow it from a friend and form an opinion of your own. If you like it, great, buy it. It not, then at least you got a taste of what it offers.

Asking for opinions on the internet is.....well, silly. You're going to get opinions going either yes or no, which only makes your choice harder. So, just try it and make your own opinion :)

It's grade A+ schlock pretending to be something artistic. In any other medium it would be critically demolished which is exactly why instead of making a real movie David Cage sticks to video games where there are such high standarts for storytelling that you get praised for any pile of shit as long as it is "cinematic" and different".
