Implying they will follow the rules and keep it in their sub forum.

It's amusing me how people seem to be riding the lines of opinion between "Don't add subforums, we don't have enough content!" and "Don't add any content, we don't have a clear enough layout!" It sounds like almost everyone is arguing the same point, except with a healthy dose of "we hate change!!"
I, for one, am a member of and have spent time moderating a number of forums with subforums. What I've discovered in that experience? It doesn't "segregate the community" as I've seen suggested. Posting in one section does not bar them from viewing or being interested in the others. All it does is let similar posts be filtered to their own respective sections, making them easier to find, easier to relate to each other (so less duplicate posting) and easier to keep on topic, because there are topics.
Just like now, people will skip the posts they don't have interest in, if this is implemented. The only difference is, they'll have that much easier of a time finding the ones that do interest them. Tell me again how this is bad?

you don't need to be a moderator to have had experience on forums though, do you.
perhaps on the forums you've been on it hasn't happened, but correct me if i'm wrong but you seem to be kind of disregarding other's experiences because your own experience was different.
personally i think it depends on how it's handled. i've seen many forums where the moderators forget to/neglect to do their job or have favourites which slowly over time seems to make (or contribute to) the entire place degrade to crap. on the other hand if things are dealt with properly and there is some sort of level of standard things aren't always so bad.

Took the words out of my mouth... Things actually happen without you having experienced them.

I think there should be categories like steamgifts news, gaming news, trading, random chat and other stuff :D

that would be nice ^^ I could know of a giveaway for Skyrim (for example) that is due to start in say a day or so in advance because of it and save up points for it, or know of a giveaway that has already started for a game I really want and search for it. I don't see how this would be a problem if there were sub sections as well...

There is no subforum yet. But even if there was, there would be no point since if everyone created a topic for his giveaway there too, you wouldn't be able to filter out the Skyrim giveaway better than the home screen. (if that makes any sense)

We can use the same sub forums from SGS. Also I want to be on the blacklist of the famous blogger, will you add me there?
Seriously, fixating on "advertising" and avoiding the fact that you are spamming the forums while many useful topics goes to back pages without ever being seen isn't good. I must say that the format on your site, being a bit generous here, isn't good. You need more tabulation, better tables, some colors. Take your 14 Amd MoBo thread for example, the table is worse than those created by an online retailer, your text isn't even readable, and you made lots of assumptions, like saying some cards will just break in many cases, yet you didn't even use one. And I don't get why those 14 made the cut while the others couldn't, especially seeing that some of these aren't even good for you.
Returning to the subject we need more mods for the forum to do any changes. Sub-forums will consume more time.

I've had many people complain of people linking to other sites that sell Steam keys, or linking to blogs. I myself linked to my DJ page once, and was publicly eviscerated for it, so I'm just trying to see what everyone wants on the forum. Trades? Offers? Keep it to strictly gaming topics?
