Are there any mixed, "mostly" positive, or negatively reviewed games that you personally enjoyed? It'd be nice to learn about games that may have flown under the radar due to ratings.

The game that inspired this question is Alternate Jake Hunter: DAEDALUS. It's a visual novel that sounds interesting on paper to me, but it's sitting at "mostly negative
" on Steam. I haven't tried it.

Homefront
I Am Alive
And not yet mentioned: Whacked! for the OG Xbox

Nowadays I don't have as much time to game anymore, and I'm a lot more picky with my games. So I don't think I'll be adding more to the list in the future...

I really liked the back to dinosaur island vr games, they're free (if you do the add steamid to library command) and yknow they're a pretty fun like hour ish of total gameplay. Birthdays the beginning is well a cool sandbox, unique art style, but nothing much to do but watch and change some things to evolve after a bit. Last one is Nigate Tale, got it in the fanatical bento box stuff and it's honestly a nice little roguelike from China, nothing too special and the only thing hindering it is the terrible translation otherwise it'd be pretty decent.

Nowhere Prophet - Low player count. Unfortunately being overlooked due to mixed reviews. Interesting Roguelike game with tons of replayability.

Blood Knights - mixed reviews. This game has two issues, for one it's admittedly only an average / mediocre game (but I liked it nonetheless), and secondly important binds can only be added manually (by editing a file), like camera control and quick save / load.

STAR WARS™ Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II - Back when it was originally released, it was fun, both single and multi-player (via LAN). From what I've read, the Steam version might have issues with modern PCs though - which supposedly can be fixed with unofficial patches.

1954 Alcatraz - a point&click published by Daedalic. One issue it has, is that achievements might not trigger. This was the case for me, played through the whole game and didn't get any achievement.

Deadlight: Director's Cut - zombie side scroller (2.5D).

Maybe also count in Half-Life: Source. While I've only played through the original, I did play the Source version a bit as well and I don't remember any show stoppers. The original has an extremely positive rating, not sure why people dislike the Source version.

Seven: The Days Long Gone

The lore is so good and the plot is nice. The gameplay makes you feel like exploring every part of the map. Stealth is basic but very intelligently used.
The game is also very visually appealing. It does have its flaws, but its still very worth playing. I wish there was a sequel.

Fun fact: The devs are currently incharge of the The Witcher 1 remake. Hyped.

The co-op zombie shooter that is Back 4 Blood. Aligns with my interest in co-op games and zombie enemies are fun to fight against. The card deck system for perks is a gameplay ingredient which should have been another perk system, but I have no idea the kind of system that would be as equally as special. I definitely had less hours in Back 4 Blood compared to other co-op shooters (80 hours against ~384 hours in Payday 2 or 319 hours in Deep Rock Galactic).
