Here's another tip. If you didn't upgrade to Windows 10 before it stopped being free and you still want the free upgrade.... this freaking works.

That's the feature that came with Windows 10's Anniversary Update. With the update, it allows your Microsoft Account to be tied to your licenses.
The problem is with the legality. Yes you can literally change your motherboard, CPU and GPU at once (brand new PC, for example) and have them all activated as a PC, but it doesn't mean it's legal to do so. This is for troubleshooting purpose, not to move a license for unlicensed device.
