Do Groupees Giveback Bundle owners get Steam keys?

We can discuss the technicalities back and forth, but the bundles do not mention anything about getting a Steam key for Black Edition. The Groupees GiveBack bundle was 100% to charity, and if you take a look at the website, you'll find that there is no mention of a key being promised ( https://groupees.com/giveback ).

We went with a publisher for SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition because the game had been stalled on Greenlight for quite a while, and the contract was signed with them to publish the standalone expansion, "Black Edition" prior to the game ever getting greenlit.

What makes Black Edition so special and deserving of this "standalone expansion" title? A ton of new features and improvements of course! Here are some of the features that come with Black Edition:

95% of the art has been overhauled by our staff artist, Angel Rodriguez
More glorious music and revamped tracks from our composer, Rafael Langoni Smith
Thousands more lines of witty writing from Yixin Li and Dorian Karahalios
Double the amount of class related perks for character enhancement
Almost triple the amount of selectable races for you to experiment with
Increased amounts of loot and gear variety to collect and hoard
Double the amount of interactable zones and areas
A whole new range of affixes on both monsters and items
More side quests and diversions for you to explore
Unique mercenaries that you can hire to assist you in battle
Factions system where you can fight for a faction, opening up a series of new quests
Wardrobe system where you can equip different wardrobes to customize your abilities and characters
Imbue system so you can enchant weapons with powerful abilities and wreak havoc on your enemies
Plenty more diverse mini-games where you can engage in glorious town activities
Even more advanced enemy AI for a truly engaging combat experience
Distance mechanics that keeps track of movement, allowing for much more diverse combat strategies

As you can see, we have put thousands of additional development hours into Black Edition, and we believe that the asking low asking price for this is more than fair.

I've personally spent an ungodly amount of hours working on this game, and so by purchasing a copy of the game through Steam, you're personally paying for the roof over my head!

At the end of the day though, I'm here for you guys. If anyone feels misled or slighted in any way, shape, or form, please add me and send me a PM on Steam and I'll gladly make things right for you.

I love this Steam community, and will continue to make sure that everyone is treated fairly and with the utmost respect, and all I ask is for the same courtesy in return.

TL;DR:

  1. Keys for SanctuaryRPG: Classic were never promised to begin with.
  2. SanctuaryRPG: Black Edition is a standalone expansion.
  3. SanctuaryRPG: Classic was billed as Free-To-Play game, and has been released 100% for free, as promised, HERE

Even though Groupees Giveback bundle purchasers are not technically eligible for a key, if anyone takes a few seconds out of their day to simply add me on Steam, I'll gladly make things right for you. :D

Yep. They should have just done this from the start. Saved all the time they spent running promos for it.

They do this because they hope that most people don't realize they can get the keys.

Edit: Here's the real reason

They didn't add a key for the IndieGala bundle either, so I call that reason BS. The real reason is to minimize the amount of people that get the game for 'free' on Steam as many people won't bother to contact the dev on Steam. I got one key (even if I paid for both the Groupees and IndieGala bundle), so it's at least not a total scam like other devs did.

IndieGala was also for Sanctuary RPG, not the Black edition. They didn't have to give keys for it, because the original edition is free on Steam.

So you are saying that giving away keys for free after you ask for them rather than just adding them to the bundle that people paid for is an act of charity because they found a publisher before getting greenlit?

I'm saying that the game that people are asking keys for is NOT the same game that appeared in the bundles. The game that was bundled is ALREADY FREE on Steam, which is why a Steam key was never given.

I bought DIG14, Every Monday B28, AND the Groupees bundle, but I feel the dev has made a fair decision regarding keys and I'm not going to take advantage of their generosity.

May be a little more complicated as just adding the keys, but I've already got a key from "BlackShellGames Dev" and the dev was really a kind person :)

I do have the give back bundle (as part of that promotion they had), but I feel too bad about taking advantage of it.

That was when it seemed the Give back bundle wouldn't be likely. At the time I could have gotten a free key if I pushed on it but again the guy was so nice I'd have felt bad.

He said on the steam forum in whatever form you got a desura key from you can get a steam key from him, so yes.
If it's "right" to take advantage of that generosity that is something else and up to you.

"I'll gladly make things right for you. :D" -> I added him, and said: I added you, because I saw the promo. He copy-pasted a working key, and said, enjoy and leave an honest review on the page. I didn't even had to give Desura key, or Groupees key, he was really nice and friendly :)

I had the same experience. The dev didn't even ask for proof - I added him as a friend and he just gave me the key for steam and asked for an honest review. Seems like a good guy.

Same exact experience here. He gave me a Steam key and I even offered up my Desura key. He said "no worries, I trust ya." Just asked me to enjoy and give an honest review.

I'll gladly take the key, but I have no praise for this developer.

At least I've learned, no matter what you say or do, they can be fixed with free games!

The dev makes a sound case, shame on anybody who abuses this, and even more shame on all these people harassing him over a game.
