If somebody creates a giveaway, every other user gets 1 point for each 10$ worth of game. So 5$ giveaway: everyone else gets 0.5 point. 40$? 4 point. So essentially you just wait. Sometimes you can rack up ~200ish points over a few hours, so if you don't want it to overflow at 300, it's advised to bring it under 100 like 2 times a day. At least I do it roughly like that.

SG should have a "it's too hard"-like page with the main FAQ points after sign-up before you can actually see the giveaways and/or do anything on the site :P
