Should I keep watching the show or read the book?
I've seen the first three episodes of the show, and quite enjoyed them, but you should also read the book: it really is something else, and the footnotes alone could comprise another book entirely!

watched first episode a week ago. will continue to watch once i get access to faster internet again. haven't read books ..but after seeing the poll gonna give that a try after the Hyperion i'm currently reading.
I'm assuming we all are watching Hannibal , True Detective , wayward pines ,Mr. Robot, Jonathan Strange....& killjoys(not a must but pleasant enough to rest eyes on when nothing else is on)

I am actually watching True Detective, even though I'm not as impressed as I was last season. I don't watch any of the other shows, though. The Brink on HBO is a middling comedy, and I have been watching old Doctor Who and ST:The Next Generation episodes.

yah.. Season 2 build up has been slow compared to season 1 of true det.
Jack Black gets annoying in some scenes..like interactions with the Paki family. enjoyed it the way they are taking story forward though.(started watching just because I saw face from The Wire XD)
give mr. robot a try when u get time..show is quite compelling. I still can't figure how it got rated 14 instead of MA..the content n story is visceral with really disturbing undertones..

Oh you mean Pablo Schrieber? Yeah that's one reason I gave it a shot.I also normally like Tim Robbins and Jack Black, and they even got Joseph Adama as the president:)
Plus the woman who plays Robbins' assistant is funny, recognized her from Workaholics. His wife( Carla Gugino) is several different kinds of attractive.
Back to TD:Part of is that I've never really liked any of the cast that much:Farrel just makes terrible movies imo (except In Bruges, and he's actually good in that), Vaughn used to make good-to-decent movies (Swingers, Dodgeball) Rache MacAddams I really just know her from In Time but she was cute in that, if that means anything:P. The other guy I sort of amused was a dumb-jock type like Channing Tatum.

I binge-watched the first three episodes today and am considering continuing the series. It's very much in my bailiwick; British costume drama based on a famous and storied turning point in history (Napoleonic Wars), intelligent and mature plots, superb cast and slow-burn drama. I remember the book causing a stir when it came out but at the time I was under the misapprehension it was a young adult novel for teens who had grown up on Harry Potter and were ready for something a bit more advanced.
Despite having friends of a literary bent praise the book in years since I just sort of forgot it existed, quietly gathering dust in the ever-towering library of books on my mental "to-read" list.
What say you, folk of Steamgifts?
