So a friend of mine bought a new mouse (Glorious Model O USB) and out of nowhere it stopped working on his pc lights work and everything but the mouse wont work.
He connected it to his brother pc and it worked so he plug it back on his pc and it starts working again but after he restarts his pc or turns it on again it stops working again.
He also says that other mice work well on his pc. Any idea of what might be causing this problem?

Sent him all your answers and he decided to format the pc, now I am waiting to see what he says

Formatting the pc did nothing regarding the mouse problem so he decided to get a new mouse and gave this one to his brother

Faulty USB port perhaps?

Only way to check that is to try other hardware, else it's drivers.

Pff I had an A4Tech $200 mouse that stoped to work norrmaly after 2 months. I've sent it for repair, got it back after 45 days and after another 1.5 months it died complitelly.
Glad i didn't buy instead any noname mouse like $150 Redragon (very chinese) that i'm using for 3 years already without any problems

$150? I never saw any Redragon mouse anything over ~$50. :P
Also had a Redragon mouse last me like... 5 years. Surprisingly durable for a "low" brand, cheap mouse.

Yeah, you are right. I miscalculated that. The price was about $75 at local reseller

Glorious is a branded name and they make some very good mouse such as the Model O. They also do very good keyboards as well.

I'd certainly have a Glorious mouse over an a4tech one any day of the week.

Just because it's not Razer/Steelseries/Logitech doesn't mean it's a "noname" brand bud. Model O is a fantastic mouse from what I've heard.

Sounds like faulty drivers or something causing conflicts with the mouse. Ask him if he has any software related to the mouse installed, sometimes they include software to control RGB effects.

As someone said here could be drivers problem, must go setting pc managment uninstall drivers and reinstall

Also usb ports has pins inside,(and the cable has wires and solder) if one pin or wire is half faulty or solder get old maybe sometimes work sometime not (at start, then stop work at all) , this can be fixed by cut the cable and replace the usb side with another cable by solder them togheder

Reading some of the reviews on Amazon, it seems a bad cable (accompanied by random disconnects) is a common issue with this mouse.

I bought a mouse off Amazon once and had the same problem. The issue went away after building a new PC with a new case... so it's hard to tell for sure without trying it out on different ports/machines. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Woe! Full "format" of the PC hard drive due to a mouse not working 0.o!?!?

If you know the mouse works on other PCs, that means it's a software issue, and reinstalling the drivers would fix this issue.
I dont see why you'd have to do a full format for such a small driver issue.

Because he reinstalled the drivers and still nothing and he said he mainly formatted the pc cause it was a long time since the last format so kinda no big deal for him, just had to wait a day to get the games running again.
PS: Happy cake day!

I concur with the first commenter. You may have a bad USB port. Try plugging your mouse in different ones to see if that is the case. (Also blow out any dust inside the port in case of build-up.) Another thing to check is the mouse's cord... you may have loose wiring somewhere near the ends.

I came across this article.
"Oh, it's too late."

  1. initial mouse failure
    It's rather common.
  2. USB port failure
  3. Faulty USB port extension.
Both 2 and 3 are malfunctions caused by poor power supply.
Both 2 and 3 can be solved by changing the plug location from the front port to the rear port.
  4. Function conflicts with various software

Have received comments from other users regarding functional conflicts with other mice.
If it works fine on other computers, then there is probably no problem.
In the case of the 4, it is in the form of uninstalling the application associated with the mouse and then installing it.

In any case, I don't think you needed to format it.

He did the port thing uninstall drivers and stuff and still nada, he just format it cause it come in handy due to a long time not formatting so kinda solved 2 problems with 1 go but after that still mouse no bueno so he got a new one and gave his to his brother

I know your issue is not about the mouse buttons, but it's interesting to know that it's possible to emulate them on the keyboard and your clicks will likely never fail again.
