hello scrubs.

I have created a train filled with all kinds of mediocre games. It's for the mediocre gamers who peek into the Steamgifts forums. I've employed mediocre anti-bot measures to sort of ensure fake people don't enter. They use lowercase and numbers, uppercase letters are too hipster.

First, take the very first letter of this post.
Then, think of the man who banished touchy subjects from this forum. Take the second letter of his nickname.
Next, we will take a group of reptiles which went extinct approximately 24 billion days ago.
Note the number at the end of my Steam profile address.
Finally, a number associated with a nibble.

You have until 4th November bri'ish time to enter.

If the difficulty of the anti-bot puzzle measure device proves above average, it will sadden me. Try harder dang it.

No clue. I tried a few different combinations of what should make sense but nothing work, a bit more clarification on uppercase lowercase and what the subjects are would've helped, so I'm just gonna wish everyone else good luck :)

a bit more clarification on uppercase lowercase

.

They use lowercase and numbers, uppercase letters are too hipster.

I am stuck on the rest myself to...

I can only assume the 2nd and 3rd characters of the code are the ones I am getting wrong... but I feel like there is only 1 possible answer for each of them so idk.

Oops I missed that somehow still I'm getting it wrong, and I think I have the same problem as you.

Edit: there were 2 misleading things, 1 where I assumed, 1 where I didn't expect, but I solved it now.

I do own all the games though.

It saddens me to make you sad, but I must ask:
Next, we will take a group of reptiles which went extinct approximately 24 billion days ago. - which letter do I take from here?
Also, am I supposed to know specifically who the second clue hints at? or just his job?

First question, you take the first letter, it is a very known group so just a little research should give out the name, maybe turn them into years, its easier that way.
Second, go to announcements, it's about the guy that posts everything there.
Good luck!

Cool puzzle and games.

This puzzle is gonna confuse people as the first paragraph technically starts after the introduction line.

Also i'd normally equate a nibble to 2, as it takes 2 nibbles to make 1 byte, but it works thinking about it from the other way as well.

After deciphering your perspective, and a little brute force, i got through!

Thx again for the... (checks notes)... 'mediocrity' '_'

Don't offer hints unless the OP allows it. Spoils it.

You can always post this on one of the giveaways.

But I didnt specify the answer and OP mentioned it is more of an anti-bot thing than a puzzle. So i was acting in OP's playful spirit.

If you really think i should, i'm happy to delete my comment.

You're good, I didn't expect the puzzle to be so confusing so a little hint here or there doesn't hurt.

Bump for solved & cheers for the puzzle & train, although I sense there's rather a gulf between our definitions of mediocrity, this seems to be anything but, especially with the generosity on offer.

I think the difficulty is right. My brain is the one below average. Can't find the right combo.
But here you have a thanky bump.

24 billion days ago

Are you sure is it billion?

In English, there is no "miliardi". It goes million, billion, trillion etc.. So your "miliardo" is a billion, your "bilione" is a trillion and so on. We have the same "problem" here in Germany when translating large numbers to and from English. ^^
