Due to regional price differences, the gift you are trying to send cannot be sent to the recipient's

Welp, title says it all.

I know you cant send gift to different regions, but didnt know that if there is a "BIG" (10%) difference of regional prices between 2 countries, you cant make a gift.

i made a GA for south america region, but now i cant send the gift because of that rule.

im checking if i can find an alternative, buying on HB or similar page with dollars makes the gift more expensive of what i expected at start, and i found i can give gift cards for a similar (or higher) amount of the game i tried at start (checking the difference on steamdb), but i think its risky because the winner can keep the amount or spend it on another thing and SG punish/ban me because i "never send the game" (the page checks if the winner later have the game on its account).

any tips? can i delete the GA because of this unexpected mistake and receive a minor ban/punish?

What I do in that situation is send the winner enough Steam wallet money (for example, via https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/ ) so they can buy the game from their own region. It kinda sucks. :)

If the winner agrees to it, then yes, you can ask support to delete the giveaway. Best way would be for the winner to leave a comment within the giveaway that he/she agrees to delete the giveaway, so that support can see this.

If the winner doesn't agree to a deletion, you have to provide the game or live with a "Not received".

It's not a mistake, because you had prior knowledge.

Anyway, others have already answered with what you need to do.
To be safe, if you're doing a a giveaway directly through Steam, limit it to just the country you're in - this saves on the problems that inevitably arise.

regions =/= country

i sended gifts in the past, they always came with the warning "you can only send gifts in your region, countries that can be chosen are: etc etc" never knew there was a "country price restriction".

If i could pay the game on the currency that the winner use, i paid it gladly, but i cant.

yeah, the price difference thing is friggin' annoying. I never do giveaways through Steam anymore because of that.
