Huh, even with all these "rule breakings" - this is the first time I hear about Groupees shutting down, and indeed they have some kind of a "hidden" announcement on their site about this, so actually THANKS for the notice - will start backing trash up now.

I know I brought up the topic about 2 days ago.
There has been some major disruption with our technical team based in Ukraine and we are not currently able to offer bundles. That may change, we can guarantee users will be able to download their assets through the end of July 2022. We will keep you informed about the future of Groupees here and on social media. Thank you.
However, since the operation is guaranteed until the end of July, it might be wise to move something you cannot afford to lose from the site to your hand.
At this time, there appears to be no further information on the schedule after the end of July.

I still have a coin worth $7.75, but it looks like there's nothing I can do with it now since they aren't selling anything. Maybe they will make a comeback and release something in the future to buy. Who knows if the coin or my account will still be there though. They haven't had anything I was interested in for a long time. The last bundle I bought from them was in 2017.

Wow, that's a lot. I think I only every bought 1 bundle that had a coin and I never used it because it kept going up in value, but their bundles kept going down in quality. Also, I think you had to spend the entire coin, you couldn't get any change back if the bundle cost less than the coin.

I'm not sure, but I thought they all went up in value. I thought they started at a certain value and then as people spent them, the others that people still owned went up in value.

Ah, Groupees... the joy of blind purchases based on Johnny's badly drawn hints. They had some nice bundles in the beginning but were mostly disappointing in the later years. Remute's Oh, a Rock! Studios bundle was maybe the last one I bought from them. That one was really good (at least, for me).
Anyway... thanks for the heads up! There's some back up I need to do.

I fucking loved the badly made charades-drawings and guessing-game. But they really did way too many blind bundles, with atrocious quality here and there. By the end their game bundles were worthless, but I do respect them for how much music (and a few e-books) they put in different bundles - despite me buying mostly for games, I have TONS of music content from them.
While it's a pity if they'll really go, I haven't visited their site for a year+ by this point.

That was their downfall. Don't get my wrong, I got excited and hopeful whenever they did preorders or drawings/hints.. but it's a terrible business strategy. It's why fanatical is the most successful bundle site after humble, because they don't have any gimmicky BS going on.. besides their mystery bundles, but you can just completely ignore those.
It's also why I stopped buying from Indie Gala years ago. Happy hour is a terrible gimmick.. I just wanna buy the bundle at a cheap enough price without having to join a group buy to get the cheapest possible price. Fanatical won by keeping it simple. Have fair prices and don't sabotage your own business by having some gimmick to make the bundle cheaper

I think their preorder for cheaper option was a bigger culprit than the drawing-gimmick - whoever was late to the bundle felt cheated by the higher price.
As you said, a gimmick - giving "bad hints" (Drawn by hand, with a mouse lol) and not trying to be clear about the game all the time is a clear recipe for disappointing the audience by giving them a chance to have too high/different expectation
Plus maybe as a result, maybe as a different problem: their overall quality took an incredible nosedive as time progressed, developers didn't want to make business with them. It was a death spiral from that point on.

Aw man, I have tons of stuff loitering on that site. Much appreciate the early warning! I'll be sorry to see them go.

Man. Two entire bundles of programming courses/ assets I bought are lost. Completely my fault for not trying to redeem them for five years, but still a little salty. I didn’t realize at the time that I had to make an account somewhere and register, I had thought they would be direct access. Hopefully I just used coins for those and not too much actual money. Far less non-game content to back up than I would have thought I bought in my bundle-crazy days, but hey.
Thanks for the heads up!

When I hit "unused steam keys" nothing comes up. The bug was present back in ye olden days as well, which is why I gave up getting all my steam keys out of there. When I check my unused itch.io keys some games do show up, some of which have unused steam keys...

It will be an interesting dumpster-diving, groupees says I still have Steam keys for great games like:
THE LAST HOPE: TRUMP VS MAFIA
WOLF SIMULATOR
SUPER ROBOLOM
HEAVEN ISLAND
SAVAGE: The Shard of Gosen (How is this 90%+ ??)
MOONWALKINGDEAD
DERANGED RABBITS
3D HARDCORE CUBE 2
I may have 1-2 actual, proper-looking games, but feels like I'm making a favour for humanity by letting these keys just disappear

Apparently there are a few collectors looking for "removed" movies and games. If you happened to buy Groupees bundles containing games and movies that were subsequently removed from Steam, these items are worth something to these collectors. If you have such items collecting digital dust in an old Groupees account and you're interested in trading them for Steam wallet funds, let me know and I'll give you the contact details.
