I think their main plan for competing against Steam is by making all of their big-name titles Origin exclusive. Which is a shame, since despite everything I was actually looking forward to Mass Effect 3, but no way I'm going to start using Origin just for that.

they can;t compete with steam even if they give games for free :P i only use origin for Bf3 and Crysis 2

But see, you are using Origin. Even if you only use it for those 2 games, then you have shown them that if they force people to use Origin then they will use it.

Anything that prevents steam from having a monopoly over the business is fine by me.

And I don't have any real loyalty to steam so I already took advantage of some of these deals. :V
