Yes! I will take a chance with this one.
Nope! Not risking my money.
Eh... I want to see more hints before I decide.
I'll just pick this answer because this feels right to me. :)

Is that Johnny Bravo?

Well, I see the WGN daily deals newsletter, and the games recommended by Shoppa usually are:
Deals like:
"Skyrim for 0.10" -> " you're stupid if you don't buy this awesome game for beans" category (you'll know about these deals from anywhere else)
Shitty, broken 1$ game now only 0.20$! Still shitty and you'll never play it, but hey, cards!
WGN-curated / was/is promoted at WGN games - usually with almost 0 original idea. (the 62852nd Unturned voxel-zombie-survival clone and things like that)
So while I know nothing about the person and therefore I can't say I hate him, but his recommendations are almost worthless for me. So, Shoppaholic bundle reserve? No-no-no-no. Maybe is I see the games, even if they'll cost more.

Unturned voxel-zombie-survival clone

isn't unturned a modded minecraft with some more zombies and cars?

To be honest, I don't know. But the game is free, supports good multiplayer, and gets updated, and have at this time...23,679 players playing it. So people dig it. (I have like 20 minutes in it, so I think I'm fairly objective :) )
The clones are usually just asset-flips from the asset store, asking for money with 0 work. ( If I remember well the kid [15 y old maybe] who made Unturned know it's not that original, that's why it's free - and popular.
So, I don't say that unturned is the next Big Game, but it's not bad, if we take it's price into consideration, it's great. I just wanted to put in context, what kind of games/bundles are promoted.

Like many people here, Shoppa is a collector so for sure, you will see him mention (but not necessarily recommend) a lot of games that hit an all time low of 90% off and/or are likely to be removed from the Steam store.

His recommendations are always marked with an * and recent ones include stuff like the Humble Namco Bundle.

Fair point - his recommendations are indeed good if one wants to increase the number of owned games, and quite a lot of users are "guilty" in that :)

@OP
You should probably note in your post that WGN bundles are curated by WGN staff [in this case by Shoppa specifically], not by Groupees staff.
I know that's something I would have liked to know before my first WGN bundle :X

"be aware i only checked the tags." pretty much covers the amount of attention they put into their bundles, unfortunately.

thanks for your feedback! This issue has not been addressed before to me. I assumed that many people would know it's curated by WGN staff because of the title. But I will keep this in mind for future threads.

edit - oh, and please do not hesitate to call me by my name, Rachel :)

Well, with WGN bundles having.. a very different vibe than normal Groupees bundles, it's worth noting. So far WGN bundles are the only ones I've completely disliked, in an objective sense: That is, they far more often bundle low-rated/junk games than standard Groupees bundles, which tends to have a good mix of positively reviewed games, with mixed to negatively reviewed games as a small minority.

It's a lot like getting a bundle from a different bundle site altogether, the differences are so notable.

Whether people like the bundles or not is of course, subjective, but I definitely would have liked to know the objective elements before my first WGN preorder :)

And then of course, there's Shoppa himself, who has.. an unfortunate reputation.
Ignoring any personal behavior in Groupees chat elements as irrelevant, it's worth noting that the first bundle he explicitly prohibited any types of hints being provided, and even ended up talking me out of getting the bundle right as I was about to get it :X

If nothing else, it means those interested in the bundle might have to be a bit more insistent if they're to expect any hints, and should expect some potentially rather coarse feedback from their attempts. :X

As his quoted comments suggested, he also seems to accept games into a bundle as a 'first come first serve' affair with minimal oversight, making 'curated' seem rather an overgenerous term :)

Well, suffice it to say, there are some gripes to be had :P

It's definitely not one I'd recommend blindly preordering on, without having an idea what you're getting into :X

Thanks for the pleasant feedback and keeping track of such sales, Rachel :)

Wow, Sooth! you have done quite a bit of research I am guessing! Thanks for being so informative. I understand now why you feel that it's important to distinguish between WGN curated and Groupees curated bundles.

I'm so sorry that you've had unpleasant experiences with WGN bundles and Shoppa. I am not implying he is a terrible person or that WGN bundles are all inherently bad, but I appreciate you putting your voice out there for others to see. It's important the community knows about this issue!

No problem, my friend! You are so valuable to this community. I am always open to talking to you more if you wish, all you must do is add me on Steam. :)

Again, thank you for your in-depth response.

Oh noes. Were you able to have plenty of time with the pup until it was time to sleep?

Hopefully, your heart will open up again to another furry four-legged one.

In the mean time, know that my River Kitteh is very adoring and would gladly cuddle with you to cheer you up. っʕ•ᴥ•ʔっ
