Hello, people! There's an upcoming video game, called Bud Spencer & Terence Hill - Slaps And Beans, and it looks so awesome! It's not released yet. It reminds me of the good old movies with Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. :D This game includes scenes from their movies.

Slaps And Beans is a co-operative or single player scrolling beat’ em up game with the addition of platform elements and mini-games in which we interpret the characters of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill who they made famous in their movies of the 70’s and 80’s. The key ingredients of Slaps and Beans are:
Retro pixel art graphics
Bud & Terence style fighting system
Co-op multiplayer
Mini-games
A red with yellow tarp Dune Buggy
A lot of slaps and a lot of beans (obviously)

Here's its facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/schiaffifagioli/

Release date: 15/12/2017
Just wanted to show people this awesome game, that's all. I'm not affiliated to the creators of this video game at all, but I'm just a huge fan of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill.

EDIT: The game has reached its funding goal on kickstarter and has also been greenlit on steam.

Yes. I'm a big fan of Bud Spencer and Terence Hill!
Yes. Never heard of them, but the game looks good.
No. The game doesn't look good.
I would prefer to see a gameplay video before I decide.

I hereby bump this thread.

When I was just a kid, my late father brought home VHS cassettes with Bud Spencer, often including Terence Hill. We had so much fun watching the movies, laughing to tears.

Just this past weekend, a friend of mine since 32 years ago and I were to see Udo Dirkschneider in concert. We played some old Accept songs and I showed him a great fight from youtube ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fEsXMlKaXHQ ) and said cheers for the late Bud. And he didn't know! Bad timing of me, just before the concert, but...

Cheers!

I think it´s really great it got funded! Thank you starting this thread or I might have missed the upcoming game.

Looks fantastic!
Doesn't surprise me that the dev team is based in Germany. There's a huge fanbase there.

I think they are widely known. Greeks know them too, maybe not as much as other countries though. xD

I probably already shared this story, but sometime in late 90s in summer, as it was getting dark, I was making my way along the main street of my town, up the hill, and from like every second open window I could hear "...Altrimenti ci arrabbiamo" that was just playing on TV.

In which country? Well, these things don't happen in Greece sadly. In Greece, almost every damn MORON watches reality shows and game shows. Then, they finish their shitty day by watching soap operas. Screw them. That's why we're full of morons! >:(

But this was the 90s, I'd guess nowadays it would be more reality shows too. Back then most people had a choice of 4 TV channels, only lucky ones had access to more.

Well, when Skibby said above that it may be around 10-15 bucks, I was happy. Now, when I saw the price at 20 euros, I got sad. ;_; What if it gets a discount in the upcoming christmas sales? :D

Now, do the conversion to euros and see how much it costs for me. :/ I'll either buy it from a trader or just wait till it gets a discount. Thing is that I also want to buy 2 other games (Ghost of a Tale and Mafia III season pass) at the next sales (probably), so I'll have to prioritize.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I can def +1 you on Ghost of a Tale, just bought it myself a few days ago... it's still in EA but already delivers, I've had a lot of fun with it so far :). You should make up your mind soon though, as soon as the game gets its full release, the price will ramp up :>.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, but it's still a demo, that's why I'm hesitant about it. xD I don't want to play a demo, I want the full game. It'll have a discount again soon probably. Also, you can't be sure that it'll get released soon - that's what every dev says, but then they change their mind.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I´m quite sure it´s not getting a discount, and if so it´ll only be 10% off.
The hardest strike for me actually is no online co-op as i was planning to play the game with a mate tonight.

Now the whole prospect of fun and beers got replaced by CPU1 :E

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And why do you think that 10% off is not a nice discount? And I was also thinking that this would be the discount it'll get.
While I don't really care about co-op, I understand what you mean. Maybe they'll implement it in the future, since it's an early access game?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

The dev´s replied to people on Steam forums who were raging about the early access state that Slaps & Beans is feature complete, i don´t have much hope other than dev´s being bathed in money and pulling a Terraria on us.

As for 10% ... sure it´s two bucks, it´s just my thinking that the price of a coffee doesn´t make a huge difference when i rly want the game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

So, it's 100% sure you won't get a co-op feature? It won't hurt if you ask, just to be sure. x)
Terraria, you said? Bleeerrrggghhhhh!

I might paint the picture blacker than it is for my own sanitys sake, that way i can only be surprised in positive ways.
Usually though the term "content complete" is as much of a red flag for new features as leaving alpha state is, they only concentrate on ironing out from that point in development - then again, i´m not a developer :D

Terraria, not saying anything about the game but it´s dev clearly is having a love relationship with his game!
They deserve kudos for putting time & effort into something they´re not getting paid for directly.

I never really got into it either, but playing Mad Games Tycoon somehow changed my view on dev´s (even made me understand Activision -to an extent- lol). Same as playing Euro Truck 2 has changed my behaviour towards lorry drivers.

Typing this out loud now, i see they´re educational games! :D

I'm used to listen to them speaking the english language (with greek subtitles). Listening to them speaking Italian, sounds weird to me. Dunno why. xD

They are Italians so that is the proper way to watch their movies, at least for me. I grew up watching the Italian version, but I never knew that Bud was actually dubbed by Glauco Onorato due to his thick accent.

I wonder if they're all that close to the original. My buddies and I always assumed the german translations are probably way goofier than the original because of lines like Platz da, hier kommt der Landvogt! :D

I finally caved in, making sure it´s not an impulse buy by watching "They call me Trinity" beforehand (and that´s exactly how clever i am!)

Have´nt even beat the 1st stage so far, spent 80% of my playtime in menus listening to music lol, but i reckon you´ll love it if you fulfill one of the following conditions:
-hearing any of the films music titles makes you smile uncontrollably no matter what mood you were in before
-you love pixel art to the extent of playing Monkey Island Remaster in old graphics mode only
-you can forgive some gameplay progressing bugs on a 20 bucks EA game because of the two points above
-when there´s no Bud Spencer & Terence Hill movie on TV on a holiday, you feel cheated

There´s still a bit of work in it for the dev´s, the missing audio sliders and online co-op being on top of my list.
Yet they´ve done one hell of a job and deserve every single cent of my monies, for me this ain´t a game but a journey! :D

edit: GOTY!

I know what you mean. It looks like an arcade game and I like that. Like, how bad are the bugs? Game-breaking?
So, it's that darn good? ;_; Argh, I want that little damn discount in the upcoming sales.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Can´t honestly tell how gamebreaking these issues are due to my low progression and pad playing preference (the latter is being marked as Player 2 by the game atm). It seems as though the game is catching some keyboard strokes, thinking player 1 were present, and never reverting it´s chars control back to cpu, hence breaking some progression triggers. Quite feasible it does´nt happen at all when using keyboard only.

I´m confident the dev´s themselves wanna fix these progression breaking bugs asap, as they´ve already put a bug report thread up on steam forums.

Is it darn good? Yes, i think so!
Imho it´s only struggling with the few oversights that an ambitious and timed release is bound to come with :)
