Or you could use, like, a real dictionary and see the definition that fits what the OP said.
From Mirriam-Webster:
a : intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger, or sense of injury
b : extreme dislike or antipathy : loathing <had a great hate of hard work>

Definition B fits perfectly.

I do not think it means what he/she think it means, but it is possible. No contradictions there, unless you can read both of our minds to prove otherwise.

Which is why I, unlike you, am focusing on the meaning of what the OP said rather than acting as if I can read his mind.

Great. Glad to know that I think that I know that you know what you think you know that he/she thinks he/she knows what he/she means and knows, you know?

Permalink

In addition, I wouldn't have needed to make any attempt at acting as if I can read his/her mind, as my thoughts do not need to equate to the fact of the matter, just personal opinion and a preference of having the chance to insert a movie quote and a pop culture link rather than say something to the effect of: "Yes. You meant what you said. I have nothing to add and don't want to add anything to call into question whether your grasp of semantics is firm enough as to realize the definition of one word you chose to use that was pointed out specifically by a previous post," which is kind of boring, by all accounts.

Slightly less boring than your other posts though, except the last one down there.

Yeesh, you really know how to waste words to say something untrue.

Comment has been collapsed.

Waste words? That was a construct made simply to contain multiple instances of excessive words to bring to light the ridiculousness of our whole conversation. What is so untrue about my statement about my own thoughts on my knowledge of my opinion on someone else's post? Is it worth arguing over if I really think what I think (rhetorical question-please feel free to discontinue this line of investigation if you so please)?

I actually have never had any interest in whether or not you think what you think. I never said anything about that. I have no idea why you keep talking about that. Your comedy is starting to improve though.

Then why pull out the old dictionary trick even before declaring your intent to engage and come at me all guns blazing over something that doesn't invite such a response? It was not a hostile gesture to begins with, yet your tone of response was insulting and rude. Seriously? Why are you so aggressive out of nowhere? Do I owe you money from a previous life? If you have no interest in what I think, then stop commenting on the possible implications of my initial post and deal with the fact that others don't have to agree with you to be left alone.

You're ignoring what I said and responding to something else that I didn't say. Please read my comment again. I actually have never had any interest in whether or not you think what you think.

I responded to what you said and never said anything about what you think.

Then read my posts and try to understand that what I've said is what I thought. There must have been a misunderstanding on your part, as your second post completely missed the point by stating irrelevant ideas laden with condescending undertones. What the hell are you trying to do, anyway? What has gone so terribly wrong in your life/day that you feel the need to be so offensive to a stranger?

I"d consider quite a few of those to be garbage artists. Everyone has their own opinion, no reason to state that one artist "has" to be good, if you don't think so then you're wrong. That is what you're doing here and it pretty much made your comment invalid.

Unless, of course, the person I was replying to actually likes some of those artists which might, just might, make him reassess his comment and not say something so ridiculous next time around.

Or are you going to claim that everything in the mainstream is dumb as well?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's insanely ignorant. Since when did i claim every thing that's mainstream is dumb? Since you obviously don't understand words, i'll tell you that I didn't say that. Please don't try to put words in my mouth, it makes you look like an idiot.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you're going to pull that card, at no point did I claim that "artist [x] "has" to be good, if you don't think so then you're wrong".

Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, it doesn't mean that I'm not going to view certain opinions as utterly stupid. Admittedly I didn't make my original point very well at all and should have added more in the way of explanation; it was my hope that through a scattergun approach I might hit upon a mainstream artist that the person likes which might make him reconsider his opinion or at least reconsider his idea of what passes as a mainstream artist. Obviously being in the mainstream doesn't instantly remove something of all artistic merit or render it "dumb". The fact that you consider "quite a few" of those artists to be garbage rather than all of them suggests I didn't do too badly - I don't think too many people aren't going to like a single artist on that list, and if they did, I could likely go on and on until eventually stumbling upon something they approve of.

Probably shouldn't have been so lazy with my first post but I'm not entirely sure it was worth bumping this thread after it was dead for a week for the sole purpose of calling me an idiot but there we go.

He hates it, it's obvious he won't listen to it. There's a problem though. You can hear music basically everywhere you are. Shops, streets, bus, subway, movies, games, YT videos. Everywhere. And sometimes, you hear type of music you hate. And no matter how much you want to, you cannot just not care about it. You hear that music playing. And you can't really do anything about it.
You don't know what I've been through, I hate Call Me Maybe. And believe me, it was being played everywhere.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There's difference between one song and a whole genre. Sure, I don't like some songs, but that doesn't mean I hate the song's genre. And I definitely won't create a thread about it on SG forums. These "hate" topics are always the same - "Hey, I've heard one rap song and thus the whole genre is s***". Some rap songs are good, some aren't. It's somehow impossible to hate a genre, since you'd have to hear every single song ever recorded (of that genre) and then it would be reasonable to say "Yeah, I hate rap.".

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Well, you can hate majority of, say, rap songs you've heard. People will say they dislike the genre if most of songs they've heard didn't suit their taste, that's how it works. You won't change your mind about genre after hearing one good song and hundred bad ones too. So saying "I hate rap" is pretty much "I hate all/most rap songs I've heard".

Its better if you to listen to underground rap ( For Example Joey Bada$$ is great he just released his new mixtape called SummerKnights but i would advise you listen to his first mixtape 1999 its better.) But i also listen to the classics for example N.W.A. you were probably alive back then you musta heard some of there records. But anyway you listen to what u like just because i like rap doesn't mean i don't like rock or heavy metal there's always going to be a song from every genre you like.
