Yeah, I'm watching too. Have you seen Fargo (the show, not the movie)?
They put up a trailer for S2 few days ago.
Beside that, I'm not a fan of some of the dialogue in S2 of True Detective. It feels like they took everything that was great about the first series and tried too hard. Rust Cohle's moody depressing shtick was awesome in season one because the other characters called him on it. This season everyone is spouting moody depressing things and it's just kind of tacky. I knew I was in trouble when Vaughn's character says "Never do anything out of hunger... Not even eating," without a shred of irony or self awareness.

I haven't actually watched it. I did see the movie though, don't ya know? I'll check out that trailer, but I'm wondering what the show is about? Is it about another murder up in Fargo (or the same one from the movie) or is it kind of a dark detective show set out in the rural snowy countryside?

There are some tie-ins with the movie but that' pretty much it. I don't wanna spoil anything regarding the story but I'll just say that Billy Bob Thornton nailed it (Martin Freeman is great as well). Give it a chance as soon as you can, I vouch for it.

Whoa whoa whoa, Billybob Thornton? Martin Freeman? Sign me up! I'll definitely check it out!

I feel like the only cast member who is watchable is Rachel McAddams, which is funny since I've never really seen anything she's been in before (except About Time, in which she played a very different type of person) although I've never liked the rest of the main leads.

I started watching season 1..after err Daddarios scenes I kinda stopped watching.
restarted from season 2. It's awesome!!! Rays glovebox...i did not expect that sketchy cop to die plus the closet gay dudes reaction to shoot out is priceless He have seen some shit in his military career too many fkin great things
E:you should give a try to Mr. Robot too..it's got Dextery vibe..& the attention to details, cinematography, symbolism, characters...off the chart!!

I was completely uninterested in Mr. Robot from the commercials that aired. It just looked like another boring Person of Interest/CSI: Cyber Minds Division kind of shows, but its not at all. Dexter is a good comparison. Or at least the first couple of seasons when the show was still really interesting. I've always got a soft spot for crazy people with internal monologues. I wish they had cast anyone besides Christian Slater, though. Its only been two episodes, so perhaps he'll grow on me.

+1 to this
However I must say, I will always see Christian Slater as Mark Hunter from Pump Up the Volume in this role, just older and a little more "not normal". It will be interesting to see where things go after the first two episodes have already made this my top watch after work. Four episodes in and I am totally hooked, I must say USA is showing they really know how to do television lately.

I dunno, I really like the interaction and chemistry between mcconaughey and harrelson, they have some awesome dialog together. And yeah, I saw a trailer for Mr Robot and didn't realize it had started already. I recognized the main actor from The Pacific, so it's cool to see him doing more shows!

I can understand that, but I'd like to think some of Sledge's humanity rubbed off on him, he doesn't seem as creepy and strange by the end of the show. Kinda funny, I'm actually reading the book that Sledge wrote about his experiences in the Pacific. I have a feeling it's not going to be a happy book

That show made absolutely no noise on my radar until everyone starting screaming about how good it was and how many awards it was up for. The casting for Season 1 peaked my interest, and I love the idea of self-contained seasons. It means anything can happen in the story, without worrying about setting it up for next season. I need to start watching it, eventually.

Going through all the comments now....the last episode of the second season just aired last night, so if you're into binge watching now you can!
I also like that the seasons are self contained, I just hope that the quality doesn't suffer over time (american horror story declined in quality from what I understand) and it will always have to live up to that first season. I heard a rumor that pizzolato (the writer/creator) only wanted to do 3 seasons, so maybe it won't be an issue.

I'll definitely keep True Detective in mind when I hit the next drought of TV shows. I only seem to watch at most 5 shows a week, and there's are times when I'm down to almost nothing new and resort to shows that have already aired (which is the big reason I ever started watching Doctor Who). Plus, I'm really tired of getting invested in new shows and having them either sucking after three episodes or getting cancelled halfway through the season.
Also, Happy Cake Day!

Well, you've got til the 10th of august to keep trying. I'm afraid giving any kind of hint will make it completely obvious though :/

I had to go with Thomas, good titles, it's a pity I already have half of them :(

bump :)
Also, funnily enough the puzzle for the "beginners train" took me longer to figure out than the other one!

I'm disappointed with the new season. It seems that they just threw some characters all of them with complex problems and not much of a story. As much as I would enjoy a character I'm expecting a gripping plot and events especially after the high bar that was set after the first season.

I can see that, it's such a character driven show that with 3 detectives (plus frank) the case almost becomes secondary to their stories. I'm hoping though that with the shootout at the end of the episode shit hits the fan and they do some real investigating. Maybe it was destined to fail to live up to the hype though since like you said, the first season set such a high bar

Couldn't solve the second one, regrettably. The quote is all over the place, but not what/where he's referring to.
Might give it another go later.

I watched the first 3 seasons I think, it was pretty good and I liked the characters. I never did see the last season they did on Netflix, is it worth watching?

last season is short - 6ep only and it is about new case and finding about what happened with one of main character lost in previous one.
There is lot of tension and a little paranoia, i've finished it about week ago and i've enjoyed it a lot

"Honey, I never drive faster than I can see. Besides that, it's all in the reflexes."
So it's been almost 4 years since I created a Steamgifts account. I didn't really use it at all until the summer of 2013, but hey, I still get to be part of the cool kids' club. I created 2 trains that are ending on August 10th, which is also my SG day (woot!). One is a little thomas the tank engine train for our level 0-1s and the other is more of a snowpiercer-50-wagons-long type of train ranging from levels 2-6.
Also, just rewatched season one of True Detective with the wife last week (so damn good) and was kinda blown away by the end of the latest episode of s2 (this). Anyone else watching?
