Do I have to wait the full 7 days to report someone for not activating a game? Kid, wins, recieves gift, marks as recieved, doesnt activate game, and not in his inventory anymore. First time I've had this happen, and I'm pissed. By the way, what is the penalty for calling someone out, because if it's just a couple day suspension I'll take it gladly to let the community know this dick doesn't activate his games. Don't much care if it's his first win or not.

[Edit] He regifted it, within hours of recieving it.

Yes you have to wait, same thing happened to me.

And you probaby get suspended a few days.

Do note he gave away the exact same game that he won from you, could be a different copy though.

Assuming you've already tried contacting them about it? I'd watch to see if they re-gift it on here, just to be sure.

He absolutely regifted it. Giveaway already ended and marked recieved, and the winner didnt activate it either, but at least its still in their inventory.

I'm not sure about the calling out penalty, but assuming it falls under "Inappropriate Behavior", this says it's two days.

It should not be hard to compare the sync info to the won games list. I mean if we can hide games we own, there must be a relatively simple way for SG to autocheck for unactivated gifts. And the penalty should be a ban until the game(s) are on the account in question.

Whitelisted you for having the right attitude, blacklisted the guy for being a dick. The same thing happened to me at an unspecified point in time, and yeah, it's really annoying if you want to give your games away to people who actually want to play them. It's even more annoying if the asshole has, say, over 200 wins and clearly doesn't play or even activate pretty much any of them.

Reply to the edit, ya, the whole giveaway was frustrating in the sense I really hope to have people win that would want to play with me. But they were all from outside us anyways, so probably wasnt going to happen, due to time difference and ping. Oh well, thats what I get for doing a public giveaway, I'll stick to invite only forum giveaways like I normally do.

A couple days, experienced it twice. But we may know it just checking your recent winners. So maybe it's not necessary ;)

I could easily find him, not necessary to "pay" it with a suspension.

Well, it doesn't matter that he still has it. Games should be activated right away, not "when you feel like it". And tbh, based on his previous wins, that game's not going into his own account.

Yes, there is a 7 days rule to send/activate a win, but quite frankly if you marked the game as received, it should already be, you know, received & activated.

Just go for it and report him, i'm not sure but there shouldn't be any problem for reporting before the 7 days
also you could add him and ask if he knows what he did, maybe he will buy payday 2 just to not get suspended, that would be a lot of fun and the perfect revenge! xD

maybe there could be some kind of bot program to check all the non-activated wins and auto-suspend these users...

Had the same thing happen to me a few days ago. Guy won, marked received, re-gifted immediately. I reported him to support, and they proceeded to do absolutely nothing about it. That was 2 weeks ago, ticket still pending.
So, report him if it makes you feel better, but I doubt they will do anything

http://www.steamgifts.com/about/guidelines

Winners should correctly mark their gift as received or not received within one week of the giveaway closing. This feedback should be kept up-to-date if the status of the gift changes.

Report him to support for false giveaway feedback. He still has up to 7 days after giveaway's end to activate it, It will be regifting only after those 7 days.

I'm not part of SG stuff!

yup. SG stuff is murky n dark. no cat which is already taken would be part of it.(may be if bribed with wet food idk)

Permalink

How would that be false feedback ? They received the game and marked it received.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

"Received" giveaway = activated on winner's account, which is not the case here as OP said.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yes, received giveaway should be activated on winner's account.
But that doesn't change the fact that the winner did receive the gift, and as such it is correct to mark it as received. If they had marked it not received, they would be in much bigger trouble.
The correct reason to select here when creating a report would be "Not activating won gift", and not "Misuse of giveaway feedback".

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You should probably contact support to clear this up, but I'm pretty sure "received" giveaway is the one where winner received the winning and activated it on his/her account.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And I'm pretty sure that the giveaway feedback only reflects the actual gifting, and not the activation of the gift.
As I said, yes, a received giveaway should be activated by the winner, but that doesn't mean the feedback acknowledges the activation of the gift, that is a different matter.
If it wasn't, they wouldn't give us the choice between "Misuse of giveaway feedback" and "Not activating won gift" when creating a report. Misuse of giveaway feedback is punished by a permanent suspension, but you don't see users that have marked a giveaway received and didn't activate it getting permabanned. It applies, for example, for private groups that make fake giveaways and mark them received to boost each other's ratios.
Also, look at the screenshot I have included. They clearly do not care if a giveaway is marked received before activating it or even receiving it, as long as it is activated after 7 days have passed.
Anyway, happy cake day !

No, you don't have to wait. As long as he marked as received and the game is not in his library he broke the rules and you don't have to wait. I have no idea why people voted Yes.

Actually yes, they will not enforce the non activation rule if the giveaway ended less than 7 days ago

well, don't need for you to be suspended for a few days, just because of some jerk, SG people are specislists in this case, it took me the whole 20s to find regifter nick and put him to the blacklist :P

The seven days is for the game to be sent not activated/marked as received. As soon as they mark it as received without activating it your report is valid. As a side because it was marked as received everyone can check t on your profile without you needing to state who it was.

No, they do not enforce this rule if the giveaway ended less than 7 days ago.

They will not enforce the non activation rule if your giveaway ended less than 7 days ago, even if your winner created a giveaway for the game he won from you.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

same happened to me recently and it feels awful because when I make a giveaway I want the other person to really want the game but this guy apparently just traded the entire pack, you can do what I did, report for not activating won gifts and a special spot in the naughty list if you want.

Comment has been collapsed.

Wait the 7 days, put in a reroll ticket and mention you saw him regift it during that time-frame. Also add him to blacklist. Support will sort it out. It's not really your problem until it's been 7 days, but I know the feeling of wanting the whole "transaction" completed.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No because he marked as received but didn't activate it and you generally activate before marking as received. I suppose in the sense that he has 7 days to activate it and he did receive it. If you want to be careful, wait 7 days.
