Hey everyone,
Would someone be able to help me port forward? I would like to play MC, EM, ... with my friends, but its annoying to actually open tunngle everytime.

So can anyone help me with this? Be it with teamviewer, voicechat, ...

PS: say what information you need and where i can find it, and ill look it up.

PS2: Speak clearly with links, screenshots (if possible), ... and don't just say "you need to use PortForwarder".

EDIT1: http://portforward.com/ doesn't work for me
EDIT2: The problem with going to my IP is that it looks different than all the others

In most cases you only need port forwarding to host games. Joining games should be fine with most games.
You could also look into playing through a VPN like hamachi, if all else fails.

I already use tunngle, and i know that the host has to port forward, thatsn why i want to... I want to host without having to use tunngle all the time.

on the router thingie stands:
"TP-link TLSF1005D 5-port fast ethernet switch"
Is that what you need?

if u know your router's name (and your game's name of course) you can easily find a walkthrough on portforward.com ...
i guess you can't use this site because it keeps showing you a page that you need to skip because it's an ads. i was stuck on that page for 4 months :D

Use Hamachi, best advice i can give. No more awkward port forwarding and Hamachi is far superior to Tunngle

me and my friends used Hamachi before, but we like tunngle more :)

Hamachi is the work of the devil, it's really laggy.

Hamachi completely fucks up your local network because LogMeIn bought it, branded it, and said fuck it.

There's nothing wrong with Hamachi. It does what it promises and it does it fairly well. It starts becoming a problem when stupid people use it in a way that's essentially giving the computer to a complete stranger and telling them to do whatever they want with it.

You've said that your router is TP-link TLSF1005D. It's not really router, it's switch (wchich are not devices that you forward ports on - they don't filter network traffic like routers do). Depending on how your network is buit, it can be either another device (connected between switch and net gateway or just your Internet provider filtering your traffic.
Also check if games you want to play are not being blocked by your firewall or antivirus software.

EDIT: Also, do you want to host a server or you can't even join olnine games?

With what we know it's hard to tell a reason, but here are a few steps that might help (I'll write especially about Minecraft):

  1. Go to MC server folder, open "server.properties" in any text editor and make sure that "server-ip=" is not followed by any adress (leave it blank)
  2. Shut down tunngle, hamachi and any other application of this kind.
  3. Temporary disable firewall.
  4. Run Minecraft server and wait for it to be ready (Check if on the very beginning it writes to console "[INFO] Starting Minecraft server on *:25565")
  5. Navigate here and check port 25565: http://www.pcwintech.com/port_test.php?port=25565
It must say "25565 is online and can be reached"
  6. Ensure that your friend try to connect to your server using your external IP rather than tunngle one) - you can see your external IP on the page from previous step.

It would be nice if you've written what error do others get when trying to connect (exactly how it is written).

Enter your external IP into your browser, then type in the credentials, which are usually just "admin" in both fields.

After that, check the name of your router software in the UI, and then use portforward.com for guidance. You'll have to set up a static IP before port forwading anything.

There are tons of tutorials for port forwarding, no more than a single google search away.

(If you have any specific problems I'd be glad to help though. Just remember that "It doesn't work!" without any more details isn't enough for anyone to know what the issue is.)

From what I gather, you don't have a router firewall that blocks the ports. I'm assuming you have a cable modem (like Comcast's). If you're using ADSL, then you probably have a router, and need to enable port forwarding in that first. (There's not enough information for me to work on here.)

The only thing I can help you with is to enable the port in Windows Firewall.

  • Open up the Control Panel
  • Open up Windows Firewall
  • Select "Advanced Settings" in the left hand side menu.
  • Click "Inbound Rules" in the list on the left.
  • Click "New Rule" under Actions on the right.
  • Select "Port" as type of rule, and click next.
  • Select TCP as your port type, and select "Specific local ports", providing the port you use for your MC server for example. (25565 default) Click next.
  • Select "Allow the connection" and click next.
  • Select all of "Domain", "Private" and "Public", and click next.
  • Give a name of your liking, and then click finish. The port should be open now.

Guys I have an update on the situation for anyone who wants to assist me.
I spent about an hour trying to make it work but here's the issue:

He not only has a router but ALSO a switch. Currently the setup is:
Computer -> Router -> Wall Pass-through -> Switch. Also, the Wall Pass-through is NOT a RJ45 port that has been wired in the house - it appears to be a LAN cable that just comes out of the wall and plugs into the router.

Pertinent information:

The switch is located at local ip 192.168.0.197 (I think; I will change if its wrong)

The router is located at local ip 192.168.0.2

His computer is located local ip 192.168.0.97

His router has a setup page that is accessible, but the switch does not respond to connection attempts. Currently my solution brainstorming is:

A) Find switch and remove it from the path if possible. They use the router as a distribution point; the switch appears redundant.

B) Find switch and directly connect his PC if possible. This should allow proper port forwarding if the switch can be accessed once the computer is plugged directly in.

Issues:
The router appears to be a certain distance away; I am unsure but he had to walk away to check it.
The wall passthrough is literally a hole in the wall. I am not sure where the switch is nor how it is routed into the house.
The switch appears to have no setup page.
