I was sure I had bumped the thread but my brain has been half asleep for a week.
Happy Cake and Happy Birthmonth!
Congrats on the residency. I don't think there are bad choices when it comes to it. Anesthesiologist is a good job and they seem to be in great demand in most countries. I'm sure you won't regret it, especially if it helps you juggle your personal life and your residency better. Two residencies is already a lot to live around so adding the distance to that would probably have made it way harder to go through.
Sending you positive vibes for the new position.

Congratulations on your new position as an anesthesiologist.
For those not involved in the medical field, it’s easy to wonder, “What exactly does an anesthesiologist do?”—but in a hospital setting, it's an incredibly important role.
In particular, highly skilled anesthesiologists can administer anesthesia with such precision that patients regain consciousness smoothly right as the surgery ends. This not only ensures the procedure goes smoothly but also greatly reduces the burden on the patient.
I truly believe you are an exceptional person. I wish you continued success and good health in the future.

The thing that made me hesitate most about choosing anesthesiology during the placement process was how it always works behind the scenes. Honestly, as someone who worked as a urology resident for a year, I had gotten a bit used to constantly interacting with patients, receiving all the appreciation and thanks, and having that little "I created whole worlds in the OR" kind of ego 😄 Now in anesthesiology, I’ll have to learn to deal with the opposite.
Thank you so much for your nice words :))

Happy Cakeday and Birthday! 🎂🎉 Reanimation does sound like a Necromancer's skill 😆 I didn't know it was called that!

Hello again everyone!
I haven’t been very active lately, but thanks to someone on the site noticing and celebrating it, I realized today is my cakeday! This will be my first time celebrating it. Also, my actual birthday is on the 16th of this month. So I thought—why not celebrate both cakedays with a simple and small train?
I handpicked a few games that I think are worth playing. Hope you all like it!
Thank you in advance to everyone who sends birthday wishes. I might not be able to respond to each one individually!
Hop on!
From this point on, there are no giveaways included—so feel free to skip if you're not interested :)
In my previous post, I shared my thoughts and current situation regarding where I’d be doing my residency. The results are in, and I’m happy to share with anyone interested that I’ve matched into anesthesiology.
Thank you very much to everyone who sent good wishes.
As some of you may remember, urology was actually my main goal. However, I couldn’t match into urology in the capital city, where my spouse is currently doing her residency and where we live. Technically, I could have matched into urology in a city about two hours away, but I felt that living in a more central city and doing my residency in anesthesiology at one of the country’s most prestigious hospitals for the next five years would be more appealing than moving to a smaller city with limited resources and being apart from my wife.
I hope I won’t regret this decision in the future—time will tell. But one thing is certain: in five years, I will be a specialist in Anesthesiology and Reanimation :)
Good Luck ^^
