I have heard both of them has some problems, as in, Raccoons is just bad while Resident Evil 5 was a bad port?
Since I have never played any Resident Evil games, I thought I might give 1 of those 2 games a ago, or do you guys recommend Resident Evil 6 or Revelations?

Revelations, certainly. 6 is the worst of the four, IMO. More of an action game than Operation Raccoon City.

Also, I quite enjoyed Operation Raccoon City. Not great, but certainly playable, just need some friends. 5 isn't bad, either, but the console versions have exclusive DLCs.

I agree with this and yes, they made Resident Evil 6 like an action shooter game.

If you are looking for an action game I would go with 5, Raccoon city is just awful from what I've seen watching a friend play. Revelations is very good too though if you are more aiming for survival horror.

I'd recommend RE:Revelations. it plays like the classic RE. RE died after RE3

It most certainly does not play like a classic Resident Evil game.

No, no it doesn't. It kind of rests in the middle between 4 and 6 in terms of gameplay.

And seriously, Resident Evil "died after 3?" Have you even PLAYED Code Veronica (the actual RE3) and 4?

I played Resident Evil 5 only but on Playstation 3 and on PC, as well as it is a very good action game, I can tell you it isn't certainly a bad port. Someone may prefer a different control method, anyway I got used to it easily and it works.

Resident Evil 5 is fine as a game. Just don't play it alone. AI is atrocious.

Indeed. They don't know how to conserve ammo.

RE5 is just painful, but not bad. As others have said, it's only really fun co-op. RE6, I can't help with. Raccoon City looks abysmal. Watch a gameplay video. Get Revelations. It's solid.

Revelations is amazing and you can play raid mode in coop to boot. Resident Evil 6 is NOT a survival horror game BUT it's actually a fun action game and playing it with a friend is a blast. Don't pay attention to the haters, most of them didn't even give the game a fair try. The game is amazing in every aspect except some things I didn't like about controls (You get used to it pretty fast though) and certain parts with camera shifts where you can see the game was supposed to play with a joystick (Still possible to finish with a keyboard).

RE5 is not a bad port, it uses GFWL though (Which will be eventually removed). I never bought it because capcom refused to give us the gold edition DLC and I ain't buying an "incomplete" and inferior version of the game. I just hope some miracle happens and they move it to steamworks like RE6 and RE:R AND add the console DLC to it.

Stay away from Raccoon city.

Well, yes... Except he actually says "What are ya buyin'?" and "What are ya sellin'?" Not "what'cha."

Too bad the PC port is... well, "that PC port".

yeah, "that PC port" indeed. Makes we wonder how companies can take their best games and take a giant shit on them. If it wasn't for that horrible port, I bet it would have been a best seller on Steam.

Considering an HD version came out on consoles, we can still hope it'll hit Steam one day.

Not to play that "games were better in old times" card but I recommend you give RE2, RE3, Code Veronica and RE4 a try. Operation Racoon City is really bad indeed. RE5 is worth playing despite its more action-oriented gameplay.

Resident Evil 6 - while being more an action game - had more that RE feeling compared to RE5. During some parts of the campaigns, I could feel some tension, some ambient I didn't felt since RE4. Resident Evil 5... nada, just a good coop action game. The only thing that could save RE5 as a Resident Evil game was Wesker's awesomeness (admit it, that dude's classy).
As for Revelations, didn't play it. ORC, however, I saw a few videos... If you don't have friends with the game AND/OR you're looking for a old-school Resident Evil experience, avoid it (fun fact : I bought it to play with some friends).
Opinions, ya know.

EDIT : Too bad RE0 ain't on Steam.

RE6 is better than revelations to me. Wasn't a fan of RE5 and racoon city is supposed to be pretty much a alpha build to what RE6 is.
