So I got a copy of Starvoid for myself and I have a copy in my inventory to giveaway.
Decided not to giveaway, but try and get a refund.
There are no servers anywhere for Starvoid making it one of the most worthless Multiplayer games out there [worthless game period actually as there is also no single player].
I have asked for a refund.
Written negative reviews.
And am now warning users here [staff too] who win or are giving away copies.

I'd still like to win it simply because I collect games, not so much that I play games. So I hope people will continue to make giveaways for this game :).

Because games are meant to be collected, sitting in a digital library to collect digital dust!

Not much different from collecting any other things really.

Except you technically don't own anything in this digital library and all you get is another name on the list. I mean this seems like a far greater use for a game than actually playing it :D

OP said the game can't be played anyway ;)

Not to mention the fact that you're depriving people who might actually want to PLAY them of the chance to do so.

How am I depriving anyone of anything :)? I'm not even entering giveaways for this game as I'm busy using points on the games that I do want to play. I simply said I'd like to win it, as in, eventually. If you want to accuse anyone of depriving people the chance to win this game, look at OP. He seems to be trying to stop people from giving the game away.

I bought Gun Monkeys 2 days ago and it feels the same.
It´s a cool game but it seems like nobody is playing it....
What a shame!

Stellar Impact is the same: unplayable. A multiplayer only game with no bots and no one online.

Have you checked there aren't any technical reasons why you aren't seeing other games?

Likewise for Gun Monkeys, especially as the latter now auto-generates Steam Keys for you to play with friends who don't have a copy.

That is depressing. Basically half a week can go by without a single person signing in. And most days only a single person signs on, implying they do not find someone to play with.
And really you need at least 20 people on per day to actually have a decent chance of finding anyone when you log in.

The worst thing is that developers don't seem to learn. They keep making multiplayer-only titles year after year, only to see the online presence die within months, if not weeks or even days. Selling a multiplayer-only game is akin to starting in the terminal ward.

Gun Monkeys is a prime example. It came out, and it was troubled. The price was dropped and you were given two copies. It was still troubled. The game was set up to give people free keys just by sitting in an empty lobby. The game still spends most of its time in the single digit player counts according to SteamCharts.

It's people idling for keys to sell/trade

That's kind of brilliant, since it's multiplayer only. No players, no reason for anyone to buy the game, so no players. The only way out of the loop is to increase the number of players, even if it means giving the game away to some people. Prime the pump, so to speak.

Obviously I have to now start entering every Gun Monkeys giveaway I see, haha. Then only one of us in my play group has to win for us all to be able to play together.

Wait, do people who get the game in this way ALSO get keys to give away? Or is it like The Ship where the gifted copies don't multiply the same way?

Double wait, wasn't there a big dev giveaway here? Then, why aren't all those winners making tons of Gun Monkey giveaways?

Gun Monkeys has fewer over all players than Starvoid has had, but it always seems to have at least one or two games going, unlike Starvoid which seems to have zero games for hours [sometimes days] on end.

Way too many multiplayer focused games competing with each other nowadays. I barely even play multiplayer so its pretty meh for me even if they have players =p

I don't get why this game is still on the market :|

Multiplayer in general has so many problems, I really do not know why anyone bothers player or making them.

calling it "worthless garbage" and writing negative reviews solely on the fact that there are no players is kind of harsh to say the least. saying the game has no active multiplayer base is fair game, and I wouldn't even label that as "negative" (since that's a factual claim), the game could still be fantastic if you have friends to play with, but yeah...

There are tons of games like that on Steam. It just really shines through more in the multi-player only games but there are plenty of expensive titles, even some newer ones, where you won't get half the game because nobody is playing it online.

I got a valley without wind and assumed there were people still playing that online. But at least I can play that on single player.

I heard it's like a RTS MOBA. It's an amazing trade item too. Like Gun Monkeys (another amazing title), you probably need a friend to play it against though. That's the only solution when a community is lacking, and their netcode is good. It's funny that AAA games like Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition can't even connect online for more than a few seconds and these smaller devs have it down pat.
