Steam is having a sale on over 150 games featured in the Indie MEGABOOTH Showcase. I have no idea why they called it the Going Away (For Now) Sale or why it sounds so goddamn ominous but it is what it is. Couldn't find any real mention of it anywhere so far so here you go, everyone.

edit: https://indiemegabooth.com/farewell-(for-now)----a-letter-from-kelly-wallick,-founder-of-the-indie-megabooth/ (Thanks pibedetorres!) Indie MEGABOOTH is choosing to hibernate for the duration of the pandemic so are throwing a sale to help out the process. They'll be back to helping support indie titles once everything's over.

So, are they being pulled from steam, or are the devs shutting down?

I seriously doubt games like Dead Cells are going to be pulled from Steam.

I read what you stated, but must be dense because, knowing literally nothing about the indie Megabooth and their relationship with the games listed, when reading the following bit that you quoted, The proceeds will be used to wrap up our financial obligations, set aside some money for maintenance and help support the transition into hibernation, I didn't know if that was referring to the studio, the store page, or what, and was thus asking for more clarification.
I have since done some more looking into it, and, while still not knowing what, exactly, is going into hibernation, I am satisfied that it isn't the store page.

Frankly, I suspect this utter lack of clarity in the Steam store is meant to trigger panic buys as in "let's buy those before they get pulled"...

This blog entry gives more insight on why the sale is called like that:

Thank you! Was worried for a bit there. Glad to know it's only temporary.

I haven't heard of them either but they seem to be as advertised, they help indie games get exposure and press through various means such as subsidized expo costs, pressers, etc. Whether it's worth it is up to you but they do have enough clout to organize a sale with Steam (but not enough to get them full billing). They seem to work a bit more behind the scenes but I was able to find some stuff about them here: https://indiemegabooth.com/why-we-passed-on-the-indie-megabooth/

So I take this is a celebration for a good thing? Useless wasteful marketing gimmick is going away...
