A giveaway for 3 copies of GTA V, user registered just before creating the giveaway. No description in the giveaway. No level requirement, 1 hour. The giveaway is now deleted.

Didn't enter (I looked at the user's profile and decided it wasn't for me) and didn't look at the comments, so I don't know if it was any discussion there. In that case I missed it too.

I see at the user's profile a comment was made, but the giveaway is now deleted - did the user say that the plan was to get three personal copies of the game by creating the giveaway?

I can't understand that some people actually thinks it works like that. Create a "giveaway", get the game(s). What a site this would have been.

For me that would seem impossible (where would all games come from, why are there still a single copy of a game sold when anyone can get any game for free by just requesting it?), but for some people that apparently seems like something that could exist.

linking directly to GiveAways indicating they're fake (because linking them withoiut any comment in "Fake GA" thread) is no bullshit accusation but direct calling out.

At least nowadays those giveaways get deleted before they finish. I won a Borderlands 2 giveaway that was never delivered. I even talked to the dude and he quite simply didn't know how the website worked. His understanding of english was very rudimentary. I think the devs should implement a window in which, the first time the guy makes a giveaway, he confirms to understand that he is GIVING away the copies. Fake giveaways hurt feelings.

Something like this perhaps?

Only visible until first successful giveaway is done.

By checking the "I want to win the game", instead of creating a giveaway, the user is taken to a page containing the parts of the FAQ explaining the concept of a giveaway , plus a list of all current giveaways to join for a chance to win games and a brief, simple to understand explanation about that they're supposed to enter giveaways to win, not create.

Throw in a short bit about winning chances too, and maybe, maybe we get less of the "I am most unlucky man, two weeks an no game win, this is fake site!"

Shouldn't the points be returned if the giveaway is deleted? It seems like a simple and reasonable mechanic..

I'm pretty sure you're actually supposed to get the points back though. Usually when someone creates a double and is forced to delete that's what happens. Maybe they'll return later, since a lot of people joined the giveaways..

Calling out is against the rules. What is happening here is not 'calling out', we are discussing what happened, as the giveaway has already been removed by the admins of the site, and the reason given is that the creator didn't understand what he was doing. So poeple are just discussing that since points are not returned when a giveaway is deleted people should be more careful before joining some of them.

Okay.
Also, I usually blacklist creators of such giveaways instead of entering (and if after the giveaway ends winners gets the game - I remove creator from blacklist. But this happened only once).

basically - you cannot publicly call anyone on forums for breaking the rules. if someone is breaking rules you privately inform support via support ticet instead - if you call out on forums you will get yourself suspended as well.

While you are not directly calling out here, especially as GAs got deleted already so they cannot be found, you're fine, but the person who linked FC4 GAs is calling out and unless he edits them he will get suspended.

Thanks, but i guess i didn't mentioned someone or break any rules, or i am wrong?

Edit 1: Sorry i didn't read it all, is good to know and give me a bright in the english lenguage, thanks.

you don't need to directly call out, any form that easilly identifies person you're talking about can be considered calling out. It's just that in this case atm, since GAs got deleted it's no longer a case.

But like I said - it's not only "hey guys, zelghadis is a scammer" that is calling out. If you'd write "hey guys, you know this guy with green WEED avatar who made puzzle guide? he's a scammer" is also calling out. Same as "Hey guys, you know this 3 Copies GTA V GA that you can see right now? It's a FAKE GA".

In this case calling out is saying the giveaway is fake. You can't be sure if it legit or not, so you can't go into the comments and start saying the creator is a troll and whatever. That would be calling out.

Fake giveaways, have and will continue to exist, both as trolling and new members not understanding how the site works. New AAA giveaways should always be taken with a grain of a salt.

The clues I look for are, Is there a giveaway description? I Check the users profile, if it's a new member with 0 giveaways, well, odds are at the end the winner will be disappointed. Trolling happens, but far less often.

What the fuck do people get out of this?! How fucking stupid do you have to be not to get how this site works?! Probably just some 12 year old fat hideous disfigured child laughing his ass off for all the comments he gets.

I saw this giveaway yesterday, but then...

User registered 1 hour ago
Doesn't have the gift on inventory
Has the game on wishlist

And to still think he is giving 3 copies of an AAA game without even commenting anything on the giveaway description?
I'd rather not waste my points. xD
