Hi guys just venting here
I did over 100 giveaways in the last few days to clean out all my old keys I'm talking about 2017 bundles and a few others from mystery bundles ( Got back to gaming after a few years, STEAM DECK RULES) So i had a few that did not work..
First invalid key, sent a list with game, winner chose a different game and that was it.
Second guy who got an invalid key, Actually asked me for XCOM2\Gotham knights level games and not one from my $hit list as he called it..
Cmom man, you won a 3$ dollar game and you want the top-tier games from the last humble bundle?
The game he won is worth less than a dollar on steamtrades

EDIT:
Thank you guys for the comments and suggestions for what i should do in such a case its very much appreciated as I'm not really familiar with a lot of technicalities regarding this site\ sgtools
Just to update, i thought about just blacklisting and moving on, but it didn't feel right, i provided a replacement key( but did blacklist the user) and any other giveaway that might have this issue ill just ask to have it removed and compensate with a different game\accept the not received

Again thanks all the help here is much appreciated

On one side, rules are rules.

On the other Relicta... lol! Serious reaching to be asking for something above and beyond.

Spend a couple days checking trade groups, and i'm sure you can find a super cheap code or tradeable copy of Relicta.

Hi im fine with getting a new key for the same game, only offering from the list to avoid the hassle, no need to overreach for a bigger prize

I agree. It's not like Relicta is some kind of rare and sought after game. It's another random FPS/RPG you get in most any bundle.

Most fun i have with them, is guessing where they got their assets from, and how little work they had to do to reskin an existing program.
But sometimes there is a decent story, quirky gameplay gimmick, or amusingly emoted voiceovers.

What a twat ๐Ÿ˜…
I would suggest give him nothing at all and just take the Not received. It's not like it matters anyhow.

If you end up getting a replacement don't be openly hostile when you give them the 2nd key. They might pretend the 2nd key was dupe as well.

My advice - do not offer a substitution game (this can lead to problem with activation checks later) - go to trading sites (steamtrades or barter.vg) and change one of your games for another copy of the game the winner got.

Like, you won this, you get this. No bargaining!

The only thing I'd add to this excellent advice is that if you're not willing to replace the game, be willing to accept the Not Received.

What are activation checks?

I believe he means they might mark the giveaway Received, despite you giving them a different compensatory game, which will result in their having an unactivated win on their account. They can be suspended for that.

If you replace the expected win with a different game, you should either have the giveaway changed to the new game (which is a pain in the butt), or ask them to okay the giveaway's deletion.

I know there've been cases when they did - because that particular support member didn't know any better - but they don't do that.

Change Giveaway Game category is only for different versions of the same game.

And can have problems with private links from here https://www.sgtools.info/
U can set rules like required to have all games activated.

I though ZickZack wanted to have his GA removed and wanted to give another GA as a form to say sry.
If he wanted to give another game and required the winner to mark as activated, then no. Dont do it.
Just ask if winner agrees to delete the GA. This is the way.

The game can be bought with PP for about 0,20-0,25$ on trade sites.

Oh, and talk with the first guy and ask him to not mark as activated if he dont have that game and he is not planning to buy it for himself.
You gave him sth different and he mihgt have problems marking as recived and not having the game in his steam inventory.

Hope its not too much gibberish english. And msg is clear enough.
There is 7 day window to correct mistake if im not mistaken.

We don't change giveaway for which game was made, if creator gave person something different. That's just open invitation to make "random giveaways, don't know what key is for, I will ask support later to change".

We only change between different versions of the same game. Like Witcher 3 into Witcher 3 GOTY

Yep, pretty much what Tzaar said.

sgtools.info allows to check if the user has activated all their wins on their account.
If not, you can state it in the reason to reroll a giveaway, and that leads to user suspension.

If creator doesn't give game for which giveaway was made for winner should mark giveaway as not received. Not agree on deletion. Deletion permission is only their good will.

So they've asked you (or you offered) them a key for a different game after the key you've provided didn't work just so they'd allow you to delete the giveaway? Honestly just don't do it, having a few "not received" feedbacks won't really affect your account at all, best to just let it go.

If a key doesn't work, you either provide a new working key for that game or ask the winner if she/he agrees to a deletion of the giveaway. You do not give away a different game for compensation!

This only results in a lot of work for Support, because
A) if you give the winner a different game and she/he ticks received, you have both broken the rules. You for providing a different game than the one you promised to give away and the winner for not having the game the giveaway was for on her/his account, which can lead to suspension.
B) The winner still has every right to tick "Not received", even if she/he activated the key for the different game, because you didn't provide them with the game the giveaway was for.

Edit: I just had to file a support ticket for one of your latest winners for not activating six (!) wins.

If you look up Relicta and XCOM 2 on gg.deals, you'll find they're not so far apart in value. Asking for Gotham Knights was either nervy, or maybe a joke if we give the benefit of the doubt. Either way, the person was out of line for calling your offered list a $h1t-list.

As others mentioned, though, the GA should be deleted, not marked as received, or the 'winner' would be suspected of selling the key they said they won. For any key acknowledged as received, that title must be activated in the winner's Steam account.

Good on you for all the generosity. Don't lose faith!!

I'd advise putting at least a level 2 or 3 limit on your future giveaways, that can help avoid people with such behaviour. Also, as others said, if you were to offer a key for another game request to delete the giveaway too.

Request a deletion of said GA and blacklist the w(h)inner.

OP needs the permission of the winner to get the giveaway deleted and they were trying to bribe compensate them to do just that when the winner made completely unreasonable demands.

But yeah... obviously blacklist them afterwards ๐Ÿ˜…

I'd take the not received, and not give them anything; too much of a pain and all you lose is one giveaway slot. Smack a level restriction on your giveaways to reduce future frustrations.

I will ask you to remove link and name of giveaway that was won. We don't want here witch hunts, and you just put them as a shooting target.

If key you gave to winner did not work you should either find replacement, accept not received, or (if winner agrees) ask for giveaway deletion. You should never give them some other game and ask to mark GA as received. It can lead to them being suspended. And if we find out creator delivered wrong game and asked GA to be marked as received - we will adjust feedback to not received retroactively.

When should I mark a gift I won as "Received" or "Not Received"?
You should only mark a gift as "Received" when you have both (i) received the exact game described in the giveaway, and (ii) activated that game on the Steam account you used during registration. In all other instances you should mark the gift as "Not Received" one week after the giveaway has ended.

You should never give them some other game and ask to mark GA as received.

I might be wrong but I don't think that was the intention here.
I took it they wanted to compensate the winner for not getting the game they had originally won and hoped they would agree to deletion.

I write it in general, not everyone in this thread was like "don't do this, and make sure winner marks as not received or giveaway is deleted". I keep seeing tickets where creators give wrong game and ask us to change it. So wanted to put it in separate comment in main chain :D
