I have been a step away from level 4 and created a Giveaway 2 days ago (ended the same day)
I checked my CV with SGTools and I was missing around 3$ to reach level 4 YAY.! with the last GA no problem and I was exicted to finally reach the level4 tier.
So the GA ended but the winner didnt friend me on steam or accepted my invite. Well ok gotta be patient I thought. Today finally he accepted my friend invite on steam and I sent him the gift but it wasnt yet marked as received - again - gotta be patient ... no problem.
Well I checked my cv again and... wait it decreased?

The last 2 games must have been available on some bundle around the internet.
I found them by the sgtools deals section (unbundled)
Now they have been marked as bundled since Sep 19th!

So what does that mean? Will I get level 4, when the winner marks the gift as received or not? Would I have been lvl4 if it was marked in time?

Could someone please explain the mechanics to me?
Thanks in advance

Depends.
Did you giveaway the game before september 19?
Ps: This time isn't the time he accepted the giveaway. It's the time the giveaway was created

ehm, created, not finished

The bundling thing is retroactive, and it depends on the date the giveaway was created. It's quite possible to be level 4 one day, and go down to level three the next because of retroactive bundling. If your last giveaway is worth enough to bring you back up to level 4, then you'll get right back up there.

Kings of Kung Fu
Bundled effective since Sep 19, 2016
Added to bundle list on Sep 24, 2016

The bundle list is updated manually so when a game just becomes bundled it takes a few days for the bundle effect (15% of P) to kick in. For the case you have presented, in order to avoid the bundle effect, you would have needed to make the giveaway before the 19th to receive full value, but since that is not the case, the 15% was retroactively applied.

The game Kings of Kung Fu was added to the list since it falls below 95% of the US price in some regions which is about the marker which the bundled uses to determine if a game belongs on the list or not. If you wish to be 100% sure that a game will count as unbundled when given away, it is best to go with titles that are no more than 80% due to the weakness of ruble and other currencies.

Correct its Kings of kungfu and the very first of the GAs was on sep 20th :-(
Does that mean that the game was on no bundle and just got marked because of currencies?

usually, if the game is 90% off, it is bundled.
It doesn't need to be in a bundle, it's bundle price.

I bought the game on steam. It wasnt available on any bundle as i bought it or created the GA.
(But no idea how to check for bundles globally)

You can check if a game is bundled here:
https://www.steamgifts.com/bundle-games

Just remind that if a game got 90% off, there is a high chance to get bundled.
This happen because it's 90% off on US$ Dollar, but it can be more than it on another currency, like BRL or RUS.

This is a sad fact. It definitely should be explained somewhere.

You can consider any game that is below (or even equals) an 80% off discount (important: in the Steam Store) to end up on the bundle list because of regional price differences. If it's 80% off for ROW (Rest of World) countries, it is below 95% in Russia or Brazil - below the ROW price that is. Yes, it is calculated as that for several reasons I'm too lazy to mention, the most important one being to prevent CV farming by buying in restricted countries.

that means "bundle list" or "bundle" is the wrong word for that.
It doesn't tell anything about where to get the game (in a bundle) just something about the value for steamgifts.
And its still not clear why some of the 90% games gets "bundled" and some not.
Arevan and calvino noir were 90% as well (bought in on steam just the same was than kung fu)
Please dont make it bundled now that i said that ...

Arevan
-90% in RU-Cis Region
LOWEST RECORDED PRICE 18р=0,28$ (64р=1$)
US price 7,99$
So it was 96,5% discount. Game will be in bundle list.
Same with Arevan Strategist Edition (Game+Guide)
-90% in RU-Cis Region
LOWEST RECORDED PRICE 24р=0,37$
US price 9,99$
So it was 96,3% discount. Game will be in bundle list.
Calvino noir
-85% in RU-Cis Region
LOWEST RECORDED PRICE 52р=0,81$
US price 14,99$
So it was 94,6% discount ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

How do you figure that out, even with EnhancedSteam I'm confused how to figure out whether or not it's past 95% discount in other regions.

Can you explain the math or tell me lol, I just got back from work and I'm trying to figure this out.

Arevan is $7.99 USD which means it would be 511.36p

7.99*64 = 511.36p

but if you calculate 511.36*0.1 = 51.13p, not 17.89p (rounded up is 18p as you say) how does it end up being 18p (also known as 96.5% discount)?

p as in py6 right? because that's Russian Ruble.. but it says
Historical Lowest Price: 43 pуб. at Steam on 9/9/2016 (Info) when I change to Russia

https://steamdb.info/app/385900/
Base Price 7,99$ and $0.79 at -90%
Game will bundled with 95% discount of base price? Ok, 7,99-95%=0,3995$
Converted price in ru-cis region 2,96$ and 18р=0.296$ at -90% (i was wrong with 18р=0,28$, its 0,296)
Maybe steamdb or EnhancedSteam shows wrong Historical Lowest Price? (43 pуб and 18 руб)

This retroactive bullshit is one of the most stupid things I've ever seen.

Levels would be pointless without this retroactive bullshit since everyone would be level 10 by giving away games quickly.

I doubt that, cause there are not so many people, who would give away even 50+ games. Also, some people buy gifts and keys in stores, where they cost much more than in bundles. And then if those games get bundled later their contribution is equalized with bundle buyers. That's total bullshit no matter how you look at it. You could at least make achieved levels non-retroactive. I had an achieved level taken from me twice - pretty enough frustration to give up making giveaways at all.

lol. But it's only retroactive thought the date it got bundled.
I mean, if you giveaway fallout 4 today, in 3 years, when it become bundled, you will not lose your points

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Yeah, sure, theories... In 3 years you may not give a fuck about games at all, lol.
What about if you buy some copies of a good unbundled game and in a week it goes into bundle?
I understand that supports can't update CV's for fresh bundled games right away, but still that doesn't make you feel any better when one day you finally reach a level and next day you see a big FUCK YOU instead of it.

It's really easy to do the calculations in advance and predict if a game is going to end up on the Bundle list.

its not supposed to be that kind of retro.. they shouldnt (normally) go back and retro it back a week unless it was bundled a week back and it took them that long to retroactively add it. now i mean they are human and may make mistakes and retro it too far back, but not deliberately.. to my knowledge they try to retro it to the day or maybe the day before the bundle was released at tops (to insure those that got in a part of whatever discount, aren't taking advantage of the system).. so if you buy something and make a giveaway and 10mins later it goes bundle then yeah its likely youll accidentally fall into the bundle area and be apart if its retro, but not likely at all on a full weeks difference.

In 3 years FO4 will be worth $30, maybe even $15. That's at least 50% value lost :P

Its only retroactive to compensate for need to add games manually to the list.

If there was automatic way to add games to the list there would be no need for it.

If you give away game before it shows up in bundle you're safe.
Unless it get price drop :P

What is not fair about bundle value counting from day bundle started?

It would be unfair if it counted from day one poor sob, that updates the list, added it manually to bundled games list.

what if sg bundled games as soon as a support member could add it?

then users would complain there's favoritism in sg, because support members warn their friends to make their GAs for full cv, then bundle games so everyone else only get 15% cv. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
or people living in america would get angry because mods living in europe are 5-10 hours ahead of them, and bundle everything before they have a chance to buy and give away those games. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

bundling based on discount date is the fairest thing to do in this case.

doesn't matter if you reach lvl 4, if it decreases over time, your lvl also decreases. i had lvl 5.7 and after few months it's now at lvl 4.54.

Will it take more time or does it mean they wont show up?

Most likely they will stay, but games might be retroactively bundled month or even years after they were very cheap/in a bundle.
Just don't worry about it.
