SF4 became Ultra for free.. NOT

I owned Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition but for some reason I now own Ultra Street Fighter IV instead without buying the Upgrade for it. I'm guessing that won't last and it's probably a Steam mistake but if anyone else is in my situation.. grab your free cards while you can ;)

EDIT :

OK now I see that people buying the new Ultra version for 30$ also get all the DLCs from the Acrcade Edition.. but then WTF is the Ultra Upgrade for ?

The Store says .. Buy Ultra Street Fighter IV Upgrade - Current owners of Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition can purchase this package to upgrade from Arcade Edition to Ultra Street Fighter IV. Basically Ultra Edition is some kind of GOTY and the Upgrade is actually an All-DLC Pack ? But we now own the DLC-less Ultra Version ?

It is because Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition no longer exists in the store so u were automatically upgraded to the ultra version so that all existing dlcs are still compatible

By characters you mean skins .. because as far as I know all DLCs are only Skin Packs.

Try to play as Decapre, Elena, Hugo Andore, Poison or Rolento F. Schugerg.

Those are 5 characters that were added in Ultra.

For my part I would complain that they're offering us SF4AE owners some weird options..

1) Buy the Ultra upgrade to get what's new in the Ultra version.. for 15$.

2) Buy the Ultra upgrade and the ALL-DLC Pack to get what USF4 new buyers are really getting.. for the same price new buyers are getting it.. 30$.

That falls in the same family as Bethesda games selling you DLCs for more than the GOTY Editions.

I'm playing SFIV:AE right now and this thread just made me look at my status bar. Indeed it says, "In Game" "Ultra Street Fighter IV"

So does that mean that the 'balance' patches will also become available to us SFIV:AE owners??

no.

you will continue playing the ae version, you'll be matched with ae owners. you will not access ultra ed. characters or game changes. just like super street fighter 4 ----> SSF4 AE transition. naturally no balance changes for you.
