Back up your extensions, bookmarks, etc... using Chrome's sync function and then re-install chrome?

I'm have a really weird issue with Chrome. Every time I try to download a file it always downloads one of my bank statements instead. I have to open the page in a different browser to download the correct file. It's been doing it for a week or two. I've tried clearing the history, cookies, etc but that didn't help. Anyone got any ideas?
