Have you ever heard of Neurofunk music?

View Results
Not before I read this post. What in the world is Neurofunk?
The name "Neurofunk" is familiar but I don't think I ever listened to it.
Yes, and it's too weird for me.
Yes, and I like it!
I'm a Neurofunk music producer! (wow, please send me a link to your music)

Japan has some really interesting metal music,
Boris, Dir en grey, Maximum the hormone etc.

I don't know much of Galneryus outside of a few covers they do.

Their covers of Black Diamond by Stratovarius and Kiss of Death by Dokken are bad-ass!

Can't say if I'd listen to their original work but I might give it ago some day!

Soulseek, my friend, is also YOUR friend! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) There's a lot of albums there ;)

Those were the only covers I knew of (saw one or two more I think). Vox sort of ruin it for me, sadly. I dunno if it'll make sense but it feels too "big" for me?

If you like those Galneryus covers, check out this Rainbow Cover

No worries on late replies. We use the time we have when we get it!

Trying to elaborate on the vocals, it feels almost like the vocals carry over long distances? Hard to describe really. I can feel what I am trying to say but just can't really put it into words.

Originals are almost always better, but some bands can put such a different spin on a song that they make it their own so to say. Case in point NIN's Hurt. Everybody thinks it's a Johnny Cash original because he took the original and gave it his own unique sound.

I like this person's comment on the song

NiN's is angry. Hopeless. Entirely done with the pitiful existence of the narrator. Cash's is like an old, tired, sad man whose life was long, hard, and full of troubles. Both good.

Oh man Galneryus! Syu is the king of guitar shredding if you ask me, I love all his solos. I even bought same guitar pedals as him once lol

Learned something new today. Had some Syu solo stuff and didn't realize he was part of Galneryus.

The Japanese death metal had the vocal type I'm not a fan of, but was solid.
The German rap was good and is something I've listened to with some German friends.
I'm not really into Tame Impala any more, so didn't pay much attention to that track.
And not into the other genres.

Any metal, preferably progressive or alt metal, recommendations would be great.

And have a nice birthday

For me I think its less the growls, more that there isn't much variation to it. I still listen to bands like Lamb of God and Opeth and they use a fair bit of growling.

Evan K sounds good, like final boss music. I think I'm going to listen to a lot of Angra, really good stuff. Seether ain't for me though, never have been

Seether...haven't listened to them in a while. I actually opened up for them about 10-12 years back with a band I was in then. :)

I will say these guys were really cool to hang out with...really friendly, lots of fun...but DAMN do they ever get really drunk and really high! I don't know how they survived living like that constantly. 😆🤣

I'm not really in a band right now, although I sit in with people from time to time. In the band I was with then (and it was the best band I'd played in...almost got signed a couple of times), I was the lead vocalist. But I got that gig because I was the the drummer and backing vocalist in a previous band, and when that band broke up, the lead guitarist and I decided to start our own band. I was starting to write a lot of our lyrics, and he liked them and my voice, so we decided having a former drummer as the vocalist would mean there would hopefully be less drama with the front man. :D

These days, I play some jazz drums with a couple of hot-sh*t classical/jazz musician buddies of mine. I'm not really a jazz drummer, but decent enough to do the gigs, and I'll work for food and beer because they're my friends and trying to make a living as musicians. But I'd love to get back into a rock band again. Biggest issue is time (you know, having to have a real job and pay the mortgage and whatnot...lol).

Happy Early Birthday! I'm also a metalhead, not into death/doom/black metal type stuff though. Are you familiar with Skindred? It's a mix of Ragga music and punk rock/metal that they've jokingly called Raggapunk. I'd recommend the songs Nobody and Destroy the Dancefloor.

I've been to Iceland and as much as it's beautiful my experience was decidedly bad. My shoes were stolen at Blue Lagoon and our day tour guide decided we should start the 1 hour glacier climb at 3pm... before lunch.. and it took 2.5 hours.

Yeah I'm really not a fan of pop. I don't like opera either but some operatic metal bands like Nightwish's earlier stuff is pretty decent. And I hate hate hate country music (with the exception of Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy :P).

Ah you're lucky to have seen it without the tourism. I think it was around 2016 or 2017 I was there. The thing I like about guided tours is knowing you'll learn and see a variety of things, hopefully the best stuff. But if you're willing to plan more I'm sure doing it yourself would be better. I was never exactly bitten by the travel bug, and this experience really didn't help. I mean I'd love to see certain stuff but I dislike the sacrifices, and there are always reasons not to go to the places I'd like to see. Egypt and Greece don't have great political climates and are apparently really polluted around the tourist attractions for example.

Happy early birthday, and thanks for the music recommendations (even if they weren't for my tastes). :)

Just curious, why did you dislike the Over video?

As for something for you, here are a few songs that I really like. Also, this made me realize that the last band I linked, Nothing More, has put out a new album and gone mainstream since I last saw them. It's crazy to think that the band I saw in a tiny tent with maybe a dozen other people is now touring with Disturbed.

admittedly Jamiroquai has moved away from acid funk to a more disco jazz. It's still catchy for me (as a long-time fan since the 90's), but it does miss a bit of the meaty bass-lines and syncopation, and rather choosing a more mainstream beat.

never ever heard of neurofunk before - I swear!
and as it always happens, I've already found tons of forums and youtube channels dedicated to Italian neurofunk and general neurofunk discussions..
well this is beyond my powers =P I really can't understand a thing, even if we Italians usually we take everything and we try to emulate it xD
