I'm so glad that several shit "games" with names made to sound like Russian expletives (Peace Duke, Your Bunny Wrote etc.) are finally gone. Their "author" must've thought himself very clever.

These games are unbearably awful, but it would be nice for Valve to clearly articulate its quality standards.

I wouldn't completely trust that list of banned games, it has "TRANSFORMERS: Devastation" listed as a banned game, when in fact it was removed by the publisher due to their Transformers license expiring. "World of Fishing" is another one that wasn't banned, it was taken down because it wasn't successful enough for the publisher/developers to continue paying for the servers (it was online only).

Why did they ban "GEARGUNS Tank offensive"? I owned it but never played it, it had mostly positive reviews at some point though and trading cards. Didn't think I'd own any games that would get hit with a ban.

It definitely doesn't count as a troll game, really curious what the developer did to get banned.

For me it's not working properly, I synced my Steam account on Madjoki's site, but none of my banned games are shown in the stats. I definitely have some of them in my library and still getting "Owned: 0 / 645".

Like they knew why you got banned from these forums, and still wouldn't help? That's fucked up... Steam support are usually very helpful...

They can be useful, when you actually talk to a real person and not an automated response, which is rare.

You should file a complaint. Steam mod abusing their position or not bothering to check things because they have a quota to fulfill?

The filter doesn't seem to work for me, I have The Coma - light and darkness battleground in my library and probably others but it says "Owned: 0 / 645"

Edit: This is probably because I had never synced my games before the purge

Edit 2: Fixed now :]

I would happily give up more than half of library (good games too) if all the crap from the store would get removed.

Great. Library got about -100 games now.

No, your library has not changed. You still own and can play the games. They just don't show on your profile.

When a game is actually removed from your library, you get a big notification in Steam that explains why, and won't go away until you acknowledge it.

There's another way where you can lost a game - when the publisher changes the content of the license (sub), in which case the game will be gone from your library silently. The only way to know if anything has changed is to keep snapshots of your list of game in this link and compare them.

there is so many trash on steam. would be awesome if valve could remove all the "buy it to increase your achievementcounter, to collect cards or to simply +1 your library"-games

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

and how to deside what game is bad when valve has no quality control?

Check any trashgala or go-go-trash bundle - there are always sales, people love to buy shit games and since direct fee is just 100$ nothing will change. Valve should increase direct fee, make it 500$ or even $1000. 1000$ is too much? Ok, make 100$ for poor developers, but disable key generation for them.

Valve remove 50 games in a day? 100 released at the same time. All 100 games are good? I don't think so

I kind of like the idea of limiting the number of keys a dev can generate based on the fee they pay to get on the store. So maybe something like:
Basic fee = $100, 100 key limit
Extended fee = $500, 1000 key limit
Pro fee = $1000, unlimited key generation

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I like that. Not sure it would help all that much, but it would certainly help a little ... right? Or at the least, tie unlimited key generation to the "Steam is learning about this game" thing and only allow 100 keys before the game has passed that status.
