Some years ago, I was amazed with the TV commercial of the first Prototype game but I never played them. Today they are discounted in Humble Store, and I am considering buying them. Can somebody tell me if they are good games and they had aged well?

I enjoyed the first one, never got the chance to play the second, but it's subjective.

How can anyone tell you if it is going to be a good investment for you?
One person will say "yes get those +1s in your library", second person will say that this is outdated game with poor graphic and too much arcade in battle system, 3rd one will say "buy this bundle!those are the games from my childhood and I love them" and so on
Only you can decide if those games are good for you or not
And the only way to find that out is to try them yourself ;)
In my opinion the first one is a good game where you can do whatever you want cos you are a mutant :D
But this will be fun for like first 2 hours
Later this will be the same again and again
Well the sory is kinda good but sometimes it is not enough to hold a fan from not finishing the game

Pirated both of them back in the days. Since then I wanted to get them on Steam, but Actavision had other plans for my library. Both games are so old now and still expensive as f$#k. I personally would never buy them at the current Humble Bundle price 12+ euro, but hey I'm cheap f$#k so don't listen to me. As final thought I would say both games are really fun and enjoyable.

Second game work like crap on AMD Radeon GPU.
But somewhere on steam discussion is a solution.

It's very simple to decide if you like them or not. Just watch a bit of gameplay on youtube and decide by yourself according to your preferences. Nobody can tell you if you'd like them or not. It's something purely subjective. This is true for every single game out there. Just do a few minutes of research before deciding on buying something or not.

Have fun ;)

Both a great.I even enjoyed Pt. II more than the first one. Bought on steam although I have retail version, so I would say, good buy.

Little bit repetitive. But fun.

I beat both Prototypes but I played them on console so I can't tell you how the PC version is. If you enjoy games where you can feel like a god then prototype is a good game. You can upgrade and get many many abilities that you can use to create destruction and plow through enemies and people.

If you are playing for the story, then it's pretty cliche tbh. The main character is a bit bland and you'll probably guess the plot along the way. It's much more fun for it's gameplay then it's story. The graphics are also not great but that's because it's an older game. I think it holds up fine, especially since I played it pretty late after it came out.

Prototype 2 attempts to give the main character more personality and add more story elements, but once again it feels predictable and wooden. Also the plot seems like a weird turn from the first game. But once again, the gameplay is a lot of fun and it's a lot of fun to play. Instead of purchasing the abilities like the first game, I think I remember you just earning them along the way. The controls are changed too with how you use them.

TL:DR If they are worth it depends on what you like in a game. Mass destruction with really fun abilities that make you feel powerful and enable you to cause mayham? Then yes. Great story-telling with characters that you'll grow to love or relate too? Probably not.

Beware that the Prototype has some rather serious known bugs that were never fixed, that can make the game night unplayable if you're unlucky, so if you do get them, beware that you might have to spend quite a bit of effort on getting them to run properly.
