I don't understand this, I've been checking this game's store page in the last one year during every single sale, bought it on the winter sale (when it was clear that GFWL is removed in an opt-in beta) :| I'm really clueless how this is news, or what I've missed

I bought it on christmass just for 5 euro - and it was on steam without GFWL if you chosed beta in game properties (beta will be main soon).
It is the best game I have ever played (you need gamepad for this game)
I spent crazy 116 hours just in 1 playthrough !

cheap gamepads are really bad for playing (I bought one and it was pain to play - because of their analog sticks - it had too big dead zones).
You need good gamepad from xbox or playstation.
But if you play CS: go or any fps, then keyboard + mouse is much faster and easier to use

I own a X360 gamepad and Logitech F710 which I like more than X360 gamepad.They both suck.I've been playing with K+M for 16 years now, I just can't stand holding a controller and using analog for camera movements :(

You can use analog stick for camera - but it takes some time to learn it, and then it is much better than K+M.
Also I have to say, that not all games on PC are made for gamepad, so sometimes it is really hard (sometimes impossible) to play on gamepad on PC.
Maybe try to use gamepad in Dark Souls - this game is made for it. (or any other game that is ported from console to PC)
But do not try to use gamepad on multiplayer FPS on PC - they will kill you really fast - for this K+M is best.

A nice fix is available for all players since January 19th 2015 to completely remove the infamous multiplayer region lock in Dark souls: Prepare to die edition.

I actually couldn't wait and got it from a trader a while back, but if you waited for the removal of GFWL this should be great news for you.
I expect a sale soon so update your wishlists so we can beat the 10,456 users all-time peak in-game at the same time :D
