Maybe the issue is that the people don't even speak Russian and get the Russian version. Try playing a game you don't even understand.

I like this idea. They should implement this for Dota2 to keep the Russians out of the US servers. Good job 2K!

What does egotism have to do with this? Dota 2 is a team game and it's pretty hard to have teamwork when your team insists on speaking Russian. I'm fine if they speak in English, but they insist on joining non-Russian servers and still speak only in Russian!

I agree, there are russians on the EU Starcraft 2 servers as well, very annoying.

This is a good thing. Seriously, I don't want people who barely speak English to ruin my game.
And no, I don't hate all Russians. I've met a few that knew English very well and weren't as annoying as the others, but the problem here is that most Russians are annoying as hell.

You're just like the majority in this topic - short-sighted.
The limitations that 2K enforcers affect not only Russians but many Baltic countries, some of which are in EU. And even Turkey.

RU preorders have been in the CDR for over a month.
Unfortunately, thebronasium doesn't keep a record of when they were added, but there are two CDR records that have modified the Russian version which are each a month old:
2012-08-02 CDR - 5946
2012-08-15 CDR - 6351

You could preorder B2 from Russia and other affected countries for few good weeks, without a single note it being in only one language. It's like you'd (I assume your steam country isn't lie) go to steam store page and read "Borderlands 2 will be playable in Spanish only".

If you don't like these restrictions, you should have stopped your fellow Ruskies from buying game keys dirt cheap in Russia and then selling them at a profit.
You have two options:
Up to you. There are plenty of places selling region-free copies.

Then ask for a refund and buy it from a place where it won't be restricted such as Green Man Gaming, Gamers Gate, Get Games, Impulse, and even Amazon.
SCIENCE! VERY HARD!

Yes, because saying "Swiper, stop swiping" always works.

Heathrow was a fucking nightmare, so both me and my girlfriend are sick as hell. Can't do anything together, barely even hug, so might as well get some work done here.

You know, I am Russian and even I don't want to play russian ver. Our localization is twisted like hell. In each game, where is possible to select english language, I do it, cuz I've a strong command of it and can easily understand the context. If you want me to pay full price - fair enough, I will pay it, so give me fucking choice.

yeah, that is normal for almost any language localization...
for example, the spanish translation, usually miss special charaters (like á,é, etc), or put wrong words with completly different meanning ("saving" is transalated as "ahorrar" in a game[dungeon defenders], "ahorrar" actual meaning is "saving money")
and yeah, it sucks.

Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia are Baltish (EU) countries, not part of CIS countries. Publishers need go back to school to learn some geography/history :D. It's weird that Baltish countries are considered as part of CIS. In my country (Lithuania) many people do not understand Russian language, so how we gonna play this game? Just LOL :D.

Signed. This is complete bullshit, as far as I am concerned. And I live in SoCal, nowhere near thos affected. Getting a sub par, crippled version of a game is simply unacceptable.

Since Valve&2K ignores you, the only way out for you - learn Russian :)
Personally, I'll download the game from torrent. Pirates always provide excellent service - the game will be released a week before the worldwide release, in my native language, and will not cost me a cent!
Want my money - do normal service!

You guys blame on Russians. Ok, but just to remind ya: some of you get in touch with Russians when you want to get games at lowered Russian price via beneficial exchange. You wanna buy a 20$ game, but in Russia it costs 10$, so you ask Russians and give'em 10$ + some % to make'em buy you a game or you exchange it for a game that is 20> and >10 bucks. Did you know that Steam recently started to regionally-lock GIFTS!!! Yes, not keys, but gifts! Such games as Borderland 2, Darksouls (i mean preorder), Confrontation, F1 2012, Max Payne 3, Ridge Racer Unbounded, Spec Ops: The Line and The Witcher 2 can be activated ONLY in Russia if they're bought in Russia. So i would say you need to sign the petition for your own sake: one good day you'll wake up, knowing that you can't have cheap games anymore. And i guess you understand what it means for Steamgifts - fuck yeah! Russian users won't be scammers! They'll just give you a gift (which you honestly won) that CANNOT be activated. And we may not even be able to know if a gift is locked until we try to pass it to someone from the USA or Europe. So i would say it's pretty necessary to sign the petition... even if you're in opposition to Russians for some reason. Thank you for your cooperation.

"Did you know that Steam recently started to regionally-lock GIFTS!!!" Yes, and you know why? Because people are cheating system by buying games from their russian friends. There is some reason behind all the region-locking after all. Valve doesn't want people buying games cheaper than in their country store (vpn users bans etc) so it's kinda obvious they would region-block newest/most expensive games so they wouldn't loose possible income (and people who REALLY want the game would be able to keep their money until they'll afford it).

I'll create a petition to Valve. I'd like to have cinnamon rolls in my Steam client

2K Games and 1C are aware that digital distribution pages for the Russian, CIS and Baltic States versions of Borderlands 2 contained incorrect information regarding the language and cross territory compatibility support. We apologize that this information was incorrect during the pre-sale and pre-order period for these territories. We are working with our partners to update those pages, and offer any customers who pre-ordered or pre-purchased the game the opportunity to cancel their order and receive a refund.
Additionally, we are working with our product development teams to investigate potential support for additional languages and options for our customers in these territories. While this was and is not possible for launch, we will provide an update this week on our progress.
