This thread is dedicated to providing news and updates concerning the Epic Games Store for the SG community.

On December 6, 2018 Epic Games launched the Epic Games Store. Their goal is to deliver high quality games as well as give developers a better deal by giving them 88% of the money spent on the game rather than 70% like most games store do. If the game uses the Unreal Engine Epic Games will cover the 5% engine royalty out of their 12% as well.

The Epic Games Store now supports 36 different regions(230+ countries) with more to come. If a game you've purchased is now cheaper than when you purchased it due to the new regional pricing Epic is refunding customers the difference.

If you've purchased a game from the store that was affected by regional pricing.

Offline mode is now available. Just click "Skip sign-in" if the launcher asks you to log in while you're offline.

The Epic Games Store refund policy change: Unlimited refunds within 14 days of purchase and 2 hours played. You can read about it here.

Some of the new features coming to the Epic Games Store are:

  • Cloud Saves - They are scheduled to be arriving sometime in February.
  • Achievements - They are expected to be added by the end of this year.
  • Reviews - Developers/Publishers will have a choice to opt in for reviews for their games. No current ETA.
  • Download Speeds - Choice of download speeds are planned but there's no current ETA.
  • In Game Item Unlocking - Planned but no current ETA. (Possibly not tradeable)

Some features that will NOT be coming to the Epic Games Store are:

  • Guides
  • Cards
  • Friends list importing from other clients

Is it intentional to not have one link to the Epic store with all this info about it?

Metro Exodus becomes Epic Store exclusive, Steam pre-orders will be honoured.

With this shift, they're lowering the price to $49.99 for the US only, the price stays the same for EU.

There's still time to buy the game on Steam, but it will be removed from purchase later today.

this garbage store isn't competition, it's just "monopolizing" all new releases.

I would think Metro devs got money for timed exclusivity to the store. I would think every dev that is doing that got some money from Epic to do so. So I think it is nothing about brains but about pockets XD

Devs openly stated they get money for exclusivity.
.
One apparently even said deal goes like this:
Epic "how much you think you'll earn on Steam?"
Dev: "10 millions"
Epic: "here's 10 milions, if you go Epic Exclusive".

You might also want to add this piece of info about the regional pricing: https://wccftech.com/epic-games-store-refunding-differences/
Even though that's not much, I think it's nice to see that they actually do this for everyone without the need of any action on customer's side.

@galyonkin

We've just added regional pricing support to @EpicGames for a bunch of countries from Africa, Latin America, and other regions. We currently support regional pricing in over 230 countries.

All I have to say to this topic is: Let's wait a bit and see how developers react in about six to eight months. Then quite a lot of the exclusive games will be released and hopefully we have some numbers (not officially, I guess).

At this point in time, it is still in the dark if anything on Epic Store can and will sell (well) that is not called Fortnite.
It will be interesting to see if in the end it works out for developers/publishers. I have my doubt about that, but I can be proven wrong, of course.

I won't list this in the thread but for those interested in Cyberpunk 2077 you won't have to worry about being an exclusive. CDProjektRed tweeted from the Cyberpunk 2077 twitter account that they would pass on being an exclusive on the Epic Games Store.

Isn't that the game they develop on their own? The worst that can happen could be like Division 2. But I'd imagine their strong reputation is not worth risking for by being timed exclusive or whatever.
