Change your rules before you ban people for them

It doesnt say steam gift. It says gifts. It can be a gift of anything I guess. Begging is in general not good.

Edit: And you didnt ask in the coupon thread for a coupon that someone was giving away.

Actually, this part of the guidelines could very well constitute this specific rule:

When posting links or content, that content should not force users, encourage users through reward, or primarily exist as a traffic source for users to perform an action for promotional, commercial, or monetary benefit. Such actions include but are not limited to clicking a referral link, liking a Facebook page, following a Twitter account, joining a Steam group, completing a survey, or making a donation. (Please note, in giveaway descriptions we do allow users and developers to link to their related Steam Greenlight, group, and store pages, as well as their social media channels. Users are also able to reference their group giveaways when posting in the Group Recruitment category of our forum.)

The key phrase is "making a donation". In other words, posting content which asks for donations (coupons could be considered a form of donation) isn't allowed.

With that said - I do feel like the guidelines are vague and poorly written out, and I've been saying it for a very long time, so I can totally understand how you didn't realize you were not allowed to do this. On the other hand, you could also have used logic to come to the conclusion that if the guidelines hint towards not asking for any form of donation, that asking for coupons would also be prohibited.

In any case, no sense in getting angry over it. Carry on with your newly acquired knowledge and thread a bit more likely in the future and you should be just fine. ^^

Aren't there tons of bots where people dump those useless coupons and others can get what they need already?
