Tried it immediately and the game itself is nowhere near TABS in terms of quality as gameplay is pretty much non-existant, the pathfinding is horrible and all units are pretty similar apart from base stats, the only true difference is between ranged and melee units. But it doesn't look as cartoony and it's fun to mess around for a few hours. Luke Skywalker + Chuck Norris vs a horde of Penguins!

The sequel they announced which was presumably the motive of this free game promotion will not use the Unity engine, which is likely foe the better assuming they dont half ass a new engine. Here was my steam review of this first game:

I can only recommend it as a sandbox mass battle sim for people with the best rigs. I got it for free, so its hard to complain except for the fact that I have a RTX 3080 and a 5600X and watching 1000 attackers battle it out with a castle & moat in the background yields only 60-80 FPS at 1440p Ultra. #FirstWorldProblems

Also, Ultra doesn't mean Ultra terrain textures, even at a moderate distance they look terrible. Also, the changes in level of detail of attackers at specific distances are jarring. I mean it was made in Unity engine, so I suppose I should just be happy that can run way above 60fps with so many objects on the screen, but early 2010s want their terrain textures back.
It was surprising to see Red Coats, of all things, beat a lot of other attacker types in 4 way battles - So that was something unexpected.
