So A: MR is currently @ 78% sale, but I would like to ask you guys for those who bought and played it last year and this year if they had any problems activating it since it needs extra info for the registration on EA. I would like to buy the game but some reviews for the past 3 years claimed that they had problems installing the game.

Are these issues resolved?

Yes, so buy the game now!
No, gotta pass on this one...

I won the game here about a month ago and the game registers just fine. Just copy paste the key that Steam gave you during your first start up, an Origin window will come out, enter the key and voila, enjoy your game :)

Do I need to install origin?

I don't think so. You need an Origin account nonetheless, though. However, I might be wrong because Origin is already installed in my PC at the time so there's no additional download for me.

Edit : Deleted the previous comment because I derped =.='

You need Origin account, nothing more. Just activate and play.

There is also a simple trick, available in Steam guides section, that lets you unlock special edition bonuses, removes annoying videos at launch, and 30fps cap.

Edit: Some people said it didn't work for them(that trick I mention). I tested it less than a month ago - it works. Some people just can't read, and undestand what they read.

Hmm, okay then. One more thing, no DLCs to it right?

Well, yes. Of course you need to acquire the game files somehow.

At 78%? For sure it absolutely worth's it!!! It practically never cost that less. There is 0 problems activating it on Origin.

There is also a way to unlock the DLC which is not even available on Steam. this is how to unlock the DLC for Dresses with special abilities and special weapons DLC, posted there in my screenshot.

Note: Just saying to all Alice MR buyers, this DLC is great, however it makes game a lot easier(unless you wanna go hardcore and use the Cheshire Dress, that one from screenshot) if you gonna use those weapons which are not just reskins, so change the difficulty level. So what I did is playing it on Nightmare and turning down sometimes to Very Hard, or just keep it on Very Hard.

For hardcore players set game on Nightmare or Very Hard, put the Cheshire Dress, use the Deer Hammer(to have at least some health regeneration, or don't use it if you wanna go in Suicide Mode lol), and die more than in Dark Souls.

And if you have Nvidia then even better, you have PhysX available, for me AMD user, no PhysX without lag, so I turned it off :/

Ok. Thanks a lot for the info. It's good to ask here for tips from the SG community before buying a game. Now, it's time for me to go over the store and buy it.

I find it hilarious how simple that is.

I played the game on something like easy. I started off the hardest, and enjoyed it a lot, but it's sooooooooooo long and gets soooo boring in the mid-game... chapter 4? at the castle and the cardword, later the dollhouse levels are phenomenal, but I was bored out of my mind by the time I reached it. Though it was still a great game for 2.50, and now it's even cheaper.

I felt game being boring sometimes too, just don't play more than 1-2 hours per day, but is still a good game, and totally awesome for that price, and that DLC just gives it more fun. I beat the game on Very Hard because it was too easy playing on Hard or Normal.

I'm quite bad at playing with only one game for a longer time, but I actually - somehow- succeeded at not playing anything, only Alice for a few days. Maybe this is why I was so impatient with it (plus I'm still holding up my statement that the middle part of the game is too long and lacking compared to the fresh feeling of the beginning and great level design of end) :) This is the only reason I wanted it on easy, to finish it asap. ( I don't want to argue, just felt I was missing out info. If I would tolerate the game better, I would have played it also on very hard, it made the fights quite tactic)

I tried this game from a friend when it was first released on retail. The gameplay was nice but we had some problems cause the game crashes back then.

Too bad the original Alice isn't available here or easy to unlock like that. :)

Is supposed to come with that DLC as well, but sadly only on PS3 :(

I bought it few years back and activated it with no problems.

On a side note: do play the first one before. Not just because it's important for the story, but because the only thing better in MR compared to the first one is the graphics. You'd miss out big time, it's a masterpiece for sure.

I really enjoyed the eye candy of Madness Returns, though I admit it's a shame so many enemies were variations on the 'doll filled with evil black sludge' theme. (And the key binding issues it had were a pain in the balls... Did they ever fix that, or do you still have to do it yourself?)

It's a shame about not being able to get the revamped original game on PC. If they released that HD version of AM's Alice as a stand alone (for a reasonable, realistic price), I'd snap it up.

No probs with that if you don't have an origin account. EA will make for ya one after the registration. I f you have it there is a a key for origin or it will be added into you origin account after registration, given that you use the same email

I don't even remember anything about registering but who cares really? When I played it I had no issues whatsoever. The game is worth jumping through whatever hoops necessary to get it working, trust me.

The only thing that you should look up is to how make it run in 60 FPS cause it has some FPS lock as far as I recall. You just need to tweak some line one file, change two words or something. Look it up on the Steam game forums.
