You can try Gelbooru if you wanna wade through a bunch of nudity. Alternatively, try safebooru. Both are good for your anime background fix.

Using Google, you get a list of tons of sites, but not always the best or the ones people would recommend. After all, even the top ranked site might be filled with crap from 12 year olds that think because they stole photoshop they're experts.

i would use google images and set it too "images in this size: 1920x1080" and google the anime/game you want

Konachan.com or Minitokyo.net are the best I've come across. make sure to set the safe filter for konachan, tho its nowhere near as bad as gel/danbooru.

On deviantart.com there are some really nice custom wallpapers.
Use the search option (resolution) because wallpapers are just a small part of the artwork submitted.

Just use effin deviantArt, it's the most legit source for them anyway, since most wallpaper sites are stealing directly from there.
