Welcome to the first ever PAGYWOSG ADVENT CALENDAR EDITION (yeah we are crazy enough to try this).

From Dec 1st, there will be a new GA every day, running until the end of that day. This will obviously be going on until the end of Christmas (it's an advent calendar after all). When is the end of Christmas you ask? Since Mouse's most favourite slave is from Germany and we celebrate until December 26th, this event will run until then.

We are also starting a day early so you have a bigger chance to finish a game in time to join every single giveaway you would like :)

And don't forget to take a look at the Steamgifts-Community-Christmas-Calendar 2019!

The theme for this month is

Gift Wrap

(Thank you to APocketfulofStars for the suggestion!)

Games that qualify for it are:
Games with mysteries
Games with gacha/lootbox mechanics
Games with 2D graphics
Games with the word "paper" in their titles
Colourful games
Games where you can change characters' appearances or outfits
Games that were sent to you as Steam gifts - Please provide some kind of proof, this can be either a screenshot of your licences page, a screenshot of the email from Steam telling you that your received a gift or a link to your Steam review for the game.
Games that look different on the outside than they are on the inside - please explain how you think the game you choose fits under this category
Games where you decorate something
Games with unlockable graphical styles/changes

You can submit this months games you are going to play here:

https://pagywosg.xyz/events/7

(this month only on the website due to the logistics of sending out giveaway links, next month we are going back of not needing to use the website, sorry for the inconvenience)

FAQ

What GA's can we expect?

Well take a look at the comment bellow. You should find a list of all games in this calendar in there, obviously not in the order they will appear, what would an advent calendar be without surprises.

But wait, where are the games for the Christmas days?

Those are kept secret until the day of the GA, but we will tell you this much: they are from the top of the PAGYWOSG groups wishlist.

How can I qualify to take part in this calendar?

This is PAGYWOSG ADVENT CALENDAR EDITION, so you have to beat a game you won on SG (or from your backlog, if you do not have qualifying wins) that fits the monthly theme for the GA links to be revealed on the event webpage.

EXCEPTION: The very first day of this calendar will be accessible to all participants, who have beaten a game in PAGYWOSG November event.

I also want to sponsor a GA for the PAGYWOSG ADVENT CALENDAR EDITION. How can I go about this?

Please let your intentions be know to us in the event thread. We decided that in the case of extra GA donations for this special event, those will be added to the days after Christmas until new year.

Congrats to everyone who successfully participated last month, here are the final statistics:

  • 4173 achievements have been achieved
  • 2639.8 hours have been played
  • 195 games have been beaten
  • 89 people have participated and beaten at least one game.

Hope to see you all again this month :)

I correctly understood that if I finished a game that meets the requirements this month before I found this topic, can I add it and take part in this event?

The description of the event refers to some rewards. What kind of reward?

as long as you finished the game this month and it counts for the theme you can enter whenever. The rewards for beating these events are private giveaways for everyone who beat at least 1 game

As cece said, as long as you finished the game this month and it is a SG win (backlog only counts, when all qualifying wins already have been played), feel free to enter it on the website. Though please note down all the achievements gotten/time spent on the game before the beginning of this month event.

And rewards are invite only giveaways (normally around a handful or however more are provided by other users at the beginning of the next month). This time around we have an Advent calender, which means there will be 1 GA every day until the end of Christmas (and beyond, depending on donations). Links to these GA's will be provided on the website, once the game has been approved (mouse and myself are doing this as fast as we can, but we are both working full time, so that means usually after working hours in CET are over).

That is, the game must necessarily be won in SG? Just bought does not fit? If I have not won anything for a long time, then I can’t take part?

the game must necessarily be won in SG?

Not exactly! If none of your SG wins (from an 8 years old win to a recent one) qualify for the monthly theme then you can play any game from your steam backlog that fits the monthly theme. If nothing fits, then you can play any unfinished game from your steam library instead.

You have to play the game in the corresponding month. For the Dec theme, playtime should be in December.

Basically what sens said. This cryptic acronym PAGYWOSG stands for "Play A Game You Won On Steam Gifts", meaning the main goal of the event is to encourage people to play their wins. It does not matter how long ago the game was won, as long as it is not finished and it fits the theme, you can play it.

There are 3 possibilities when you can play a normal backlog game (a game not won on SG) for the event:

  1. You have never won a game on SG
  2. You have played all your wins from SG already
  3. You have no win that fits the current theme

Under any of those circumstances you can play a game from your backlog that fits the theme.

From the website:

I'm not sure if I still have games that fit the requirements like won on SG.

You have plenty, I only looked at your very most recent wins and found at least 4 therefore I can't accept Guacamelee! 2.

Try again, it's pretty good, begging is unbalance and unforgiving, once you'll get healing items and pick up some health it would be not that hard.

1st of all, have some patience please. Writing to me the same thing again after I already answered you on the first one won't make any difference. Second of all you are still missing the achievment to beat the game. So either get that or provide some other proof that it has been beaten.

If I play Beat Hazard and it doesn't have a campaign,I can only complete it right?(All achievements)
Also would it be considered a colorful game?

it has the colourful tag so i dont see it being a problem

As Cece said, definitely colourful. As for the completing part, you don't need to 100% complete it for it to get counted. A decent try is enough for it being counted as beaten ->HLTB main story playtime should give you an idea around how much playtime would be expected for a decent try.

Hi rodasa,

I cannot find Beat Hazard under your SG wins. Was it part of a bundle you've won? If not we cannot accept it as an entry for the event, since you have a bunch of qualifying, unplayed (idiling for cards does not count as played) SG wins that you could play instead. Playing a non SG win for the event is only possible if you have played all qualifying SG wins first. Here is a short list of qualifiying games:

2D:

  • Mushroom Wars
  • City of Chains
  • Higurashi When They Cry Hou - Ch.1
  • Unexplored
  • Beatbuddy: Tale of the Guardians
  • Ara Fell
  • Punch Club
  • The Secret Order 2
  • Guacamelee! 2
  • Songbringer
  • Pivot Pilot
  • Dungeons & Geese
  • Regions Of Ruin
  • The Darkside Detective
  • Crime Secrets: Crimson Lily
  • HIVESWAP: Act 1
  • 12 Labours of Hercules
  • No Time to Relax

Mystery:

  • Bendy and the Ink Machine™

Colorful:

  • Stikbold! A Dodgeball Adventure
  • Snakepass
  • Diaries of a Spaceport Janitor

I go off tags myself since its the best way for me to confirm if it does. Like to me my stories didnt even occur to me that they would be classed as 2d without seeing the tag

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

For those lists I go off tags most of the time myself, unless I know the game myself so that I can judge it properly. But that is way too much work for someone with a backlog like our mouse.

Sometimes if I come across a game that I would like to play, I will try to fit it in in one of those other categories, if at all possible.

Hi all, I didn't understand exactly this event but last week I won Hard West. I already started it. If I finished it in this month, can I join? Does the game fit the requirements and theme? Thanks in advance.

Hello there.

I didn't understand exactly this event

This event aims to give people the motivation to play games they won and also provides an opportunity to win some more games as reward :) Once you've finished at least one game, that fit the theme of the month - you get acces to some invite only giveaways.

You can participate even if you started the game before the event, as long as it's not like 90% finished.
The thing is that I'm not see how this game (Hard West) fit the current month theme, if only you not received it as steam gift (not a key, but gift through steam directly).

I took a quick look at your wins and find few games that fit the current theme:

  • Serial Cleaner - 2D (really nice game btw);
  • Out There Somewhere - 2D;
  • Tropico 4 - Games where you can change characters' appearances or outfits (Mouse already approved this game for other user)

looked at it myself and couldn't figure out any tags it could fit so didn't bother replying myself. Especially when I know sam/mouse will be like let me just confirm this

Oh okay thank you. I get it :)

In that case, I'll play Serial Cleaner. I was planning to play it anyway and if you say it's a nice game then it's time.

so all i need to do is play a game i won on SG, beat it ( as in play it till the end or get all achievements?) and then i am eligible to enter the giveaway?

Permalink

That sums it up pretty well yes, just the game has to fit the theme of the month. You only have to play it till the end (you don't need to get all the achievements).

Also FAQ.

Just a quick note: I have cleared through all the overdue join request now and they should all be approved for people who participated. Big sorry to the people who have been waiting for that since the end of November :/ If anyone is missing a group invite or their join request has been declined please do let me know and I will sort it out as soon as possible. Now excuse me as I am off to drive trucks around Europe :3

Simple, as sad and embarrassing to say this in public: I'm a game addict with no real life.
Hell I could have topped the few months I have participated here if it weren't for Origin, if you remember seeing a thread here on Spring there was an ASUS rewarding site was giving out free 1 month Origin Access Basic ,, well I got myself 14 months out of it and most of the year I have been gaming hard on Origin farming its achievements as much as I can.

But since this month is the ending of a decade I'm hell-bent on topping the leaderboard here, especially that a Steam friend donated me Hitman 2 Gold Edition during the Steam Autumn Sale

Cheers!

while I certainly cant hit that many hours in such a short time I play my fair share. I have absolutely 0 life since I only leave the house on monday and every other saturday. So while there's not many hours I have a lot of times done 10 games in a week and that my life. At least you are making the most out of the origin access thing. I did see it but I only use steam so I don't really look into my details about that, xbox game pass or the free stuff on epic

I wish I had that amount of time :( When 40 hours of your week is working, 42 is sleep, you only have 86 hours for gaming and the rest of stuff that needs to be done that week including some very basic stuff like eating and showering :/
