yeha I know that, but I'm looking for a game that will make my non-gamer friend want to play with/without me

In no real order:
The Stanley parable is a fun one to play with a friend
Kerbal space program is hard to share with a friend but packs hours of fun
Oxygen not included is a great game with countless hours of fun
Papers please while it has violence its story not part of gameplay (guess it is! need to finish it!)
Sam and Max are fun if you and you friend like that type of humor i dont think there is any direct violence but i did not finish the one game of the series i own
Space engineers minecraft in space with spaceships and planets, you can have enemy's and interactions but you can also turn these off
Splelunky you can call it violent because you have to defeat bosses, but its still a great into to a non gamer that is about as violent as mario bro's (unless you try and kill a shopowner)
Driving games: separate because not everyone likes them and they're not the easiest to share
BeamNG.Drive : dont let the name fool you, this soft body simulator has some of the best crashes and physics in a car sim, its still early in its build but the updates are big and often enough to keep you coming back and they are working on a career with a persistant vehicle so you have to maintain it as you drive it around the open maps
Spintires: Mudrunner : the "second" version because i like supporting the people that made the game and want to continue working on it instead of the company, the game is very slow and can be frustrating but playing with a friend can be fun, pulling eachother out of holes only to get stuck yourself sounds frustrating but its all about the deep mud in this game anyways
UNDERTALE

Because it's a game about sitting in front of a woman and listening to it, and there is no violent action in it, like how the pacifist category hints? It's not necessarily child friendly (though there are no details of murder as far as I remember in 2 year's range) but it definitely fits the pacifist category.

I don't think this kind of game will work, but thanks anyway

Firewatch
I just started playing Oxenfree but so far, no violence.

For Oxenfree, it really depends on your definition, but there is a non-trivial amount of bodily harm.

Slime Rancher (well, except for the occasional Tarr outbreak, but those are the only things you have to fight/get rid of)
The Witness, The Talos Principle, Portal and other puzzle games like those.
Viscera Cleanup Detail - in that game the violence already happened
Fez (as far as I've played that)

Slime Rancher lets you turn the tarr off (they don't appear in Casual mode), so you don't have to deal with fighting them if you don't want to.

Oh yeah, I forgot they added that option in.
Also switching off the Tarr also means you miss out on the most chill-out "danger music" track in video game history, and that's a shame.

Some of my favorites:
Overcooked
SpaceChem
Life Is Strange
Rock of Ages / Rock of Ages II (questionably non-violent, sometimes you squish famous paintings)
Sherlock Holmes: The Devil's Daughter (questionably violent, deals with murder but you're the detective)
Papers, Please (questionably violent, as the background setting is about war)
Slime Rancher
Event[0]
Some Other Ideas:
Planet Coaster
Scribblenauts
Vanishing of Ethan Carter
Octodad: Dadliest Catch
Frozen Cortex
Long Live the Queen (questionably violent, violent things can happen to you)
Broken Age
Poker Night at the Inventory / Poker Night 2
Stacking
Hope that helps!

Life is Strange has violence in it.
Papers, Please has very low-key violence, more than just the background setting.
Slime Rancher is cartoony and harmless seeming but there are predatory creatures.
Scribblenauts has violence albeit very cartoony, but certain interactions can be surprising if you spawn in certain people or creatures.
Frozen Cortex is a sporting sim that has automatic and pretty rough takedowns.
Long Live the Queen is openly violent given how hard it is to actually succeed in staying alive :P
Good games, but slipping on the criteria here. Its a tough one!

Stardew valley, the mines have swinging a sword at pixel creatures but does that count as violence?

If you have money to spare, maybe try the Freddie fish series. It's a fun point n click game from my childhood.
Also Chocolatier. You make chocolates.

has both multiplayer and singleplayer.
there's carbon on steam too, but this one is the best (from what you can get on steam)

Yes and yes! These games are both excellent.
Would also recommend Contrast in this context. http://store.steampowered.com/app/224460/Contrast/

So I showed my friend my steam libary, but we could not find any non-violent game (except from portal 2 i guess).
You got some non-violent games? by non-violent game I mean without fighting and hurting other people/animals.
(Before some of you go through my steam library, I just want to emphasize that we didn't search through all the games I own. only the ones that are in my favorite category)
Thanks!
