So I'm participating in an exchange program to spend an academic year in the U.S and in the preliminary application I'm asked to answer these two questions in a 200 words essay each :

Why do you want to participate in the program?
What are the problems or challenges (other than language) that you think you might encounter while in the US. What would you do to solve and overcome them?

I don't know how to start and I don't want to blow this opportunity so I need it to be perfect , thank you for your help.

If you really don't know how to answer the first question, you should ask yourself why you want to participe and why it should be you instead another one. Because none will answer for you. There's no perfect answer, only you know to why you want to do this.

I understand what you're saying but I don't want to sugarcoat it and by "how to answer" I meant the structure of it not the content of the answer.

That's a personal thingy. You are the one who want to participate in it ergo you should know the reason of why you want to go.
