So I have read the rules about them, checked the bundled list, searched for threads that may contain the question I have with no luck.

My question is: How many time will a game will be tagged as bundled? Like if I want to giveaway a game that was bundled around 3 years ago, is it still considered bundled? Does the bundled tag remains forever ?

Yes. Same goes for free games. They are removed from the giveaway list once and for all. This keeps people from exploiting the CV system.

The nice thing is that if you give away a game before it becomes bundled, say you give away Dishonored and then its in a humble bundle next month, the CV you get will not be bundled since the giveaway was made before it was in a bundle. This does not work if you do a giveaway for a newly bundled game. Even if it ends before the game is added to the bundle list your CV will be retroactively lowered.

Many people seem to drop in level when games they've given away before get bundled, so afaik that's not true.

If a game drops in price that will affect your CV. And like I said, if you give away a game from a bundle it can take days before its added to the list, which is drop your CV after you earn it.

Yup, like what MagnificentOne said, a bundled game is considered bundled forever. And a game that has gone free is considered free forever and removed from the list of games you can give away.

Thanks for the reply, I will make the giveaway regardless since my give/receive ratio is utter shit right now.

This I do not agree with. There needs to be an official list of games people can't give away that can be checked before you buy something to give away.

Just because it was free I should still be able to give away 5 copies of a game in my Steam Inventory that was paid for.

Search for it here

https://www.steamgifts.com/bundle-games

Or see if its on the giveaway list at all by hitting "Create new giveaway" and searching for the game there.

You clearly didn't read what I said.
That is the bundled list, not an OFFICIAL "Game was given away free, screw you if you want to buy copies and give it away"

I see you edited your post, the list only includes the game I wanted to give away because I'm the one who found out about it.

Yeah :( I check the bundle games list and type the name of the game on "create a giveaway" before buying the game.

My problem is that these were bought before anyone knew the game was free, and were still on the Giveaway list at the time.
The date on the list of bundle-games is simply when it was first put in a bundle.

Well an idea could be providing a proof of purchase to support to allow you to create the giveaway, but I feel that it might be open to exploitation (people just editing a webpage to show they've "purchased" it). I wish Steam would say when you bought a game so you could just go: "Hey just check my inventory and you'll see they're legit."

But it's simply no good without an official list of games that can't be given away.
The fact I have 5 legit copies sitting in my inventory should be enough to prove they're not keys (keys are always of dubious origin)

Oh, yeah. You'd think they'd have an actual list of it somewhere.

As soon as they're aware of it, it gets removed from the giveaway creation list.
Ergo, it does have a list, by way of omission.
Whether they introduced a second list or not, it'd just be redundant to the existing implementation.
Whether you check one list or another, the timing will be the same for you- thus, it'd have no change on your purchasing decisions.
(Which doesn't mean there's no point in requesting for such a list, for the sake of clarity; just that someone who is aware that they can check the giveaway list can't claim that a change would affect their purchasing.)

Likewise, if you purchase through steam within a freebie timeframe, you'd still have plenty of time to get steam refunds so, as-indicated, it's a bit of a silly scenario to contemplate. As is any scenario where blame could be ascribed in a circumstance "before anyone knew the game was free".

Finally, free games aren't removed as a form of punishment, or even as a way of avoiding the games in question- they simply no longer are compatible with the primary giveaway list. There's no way to approach within the current giveaway system that'd have any beneficial effect toward those with free games, and cg has already indicated several times that he's mulling over a suitable approach for dealing with free games outside of that system.

As far as allowing free inventory copies to be put up, that'd require both a revamp of the giveaway system and extensive moderator involvement [and of course, one exception has to mean universal exception, so that'd lead to quite a heavy load on staff]. Again, it's not a matter of staff being overly strict- it's just not remotely a feasible thing for them to try and take on.

I think having a list, similar to the bundle-games list, is possible depending on how they have the system implemented.

e.g. If they have a list or database of games that have gone free that the system checks before showing a list of games in the "Create a new giveaway" page, then there's a list that can be used, all it would need are matching web pages to show it.

Of course, I don't know how the back end is implemented, and that this kind of list isn't available at all probably indicates that what actually happens is that the entire list of possible giveaways is stored in a database, and then games that have gone free are completely removed from this 'possible giveaway' database. I think this is what you mean when you say it would be it has a list by omission.

I think a warning for new gifters that there are some games that can't be given away (even just in the FAQs and Guidelines) would be nice. I myself have bought a few ungiftable games as a newbie gifter. (Yes I read the FAQs and Guidelines before doing so, but was unaware that there existed ungiftable games as it's not mentioned there.)

Yeah, I'm not so hopeful about being able to give away inventory copies here. Maybe just trade them or gift them to friends.

Possible, and perhaps even easy. But again, not relevant to the point being made in this thread [that it would fundamentally change how things work, despite having the same effect as games simply being removed from Create Giveaway].

The site has had some rule phrasing corrections, but there are still several places that are lacking in detail or unclear in phrasing. This has been a complaint about the site that has been around since I joined, nearly two years ago. Likewise, there have been several requests for clearer rule-notifications for newer users.

Again, not arguing any of that- just was noting that someone who was familiar with how the site worked, wouldn't have room for complaint (in regards to how free games are being listed on the site).

As with any sale or promotion, the effects thereof are based within the publisher's actions, and aren't caused by the sites which react to those decisions. Marketplaces, trading sites, SG, or your own wallet after you bought a gift for a friend- how those are affected is based within publisher decisions, and isn't something to criticize the other sites for. Too many users blame SG for [retail price dropping, regional pricing, etc], but those are all publisher decisions. They'd affect you no matter what your basis of interaction with the product was.

official list is the list contained inside of the "create a giveaway". it cannot be helped that it changes all the time and that it was removed from acceptable GAs after your purchase.

the only way to be safe in the future from such things, is create the GA immediately. that's what i do when i buy gifts, i check if they can be created and leave that tab open that shows me GAs can be created for it, and immediately create it after the purchase.

you asking for official list, sure it could be done, but the EXACT SAME THING will happen all over again if you still don't create it immediately. just because something was on the list, doesn't mean it always will be.

It's difficult to create a giveaway immediately when you're given so few slots to start with.
I had 0 slots and couldn't create the giveaways.

I just think there is a better option than denying people the chance to give away games that have been purchased instead of received for free.

yeah, i understand what you mean. sadly even gift doesn't necessarily mean it was purchased though. for example minion masters free beta keys gave the additional gift copy. so unfortunately due to those few circumstances gift vs key can't really work, not to mention people can check the "gift" box even if they plan to send a key instead.

eventually possibly free games will be allowed to be gifted, but i doubt at any cv gain if they ever add it like it was announced in the winter announcement. so still same thing as just randomly finding people to give it too really sadly.

best you can attempt to do is trade it for something that is giftable on steamgifts. if you label that it is a gift in the trade any intelligent traders should understand you aren't trying to trade free crap for paid crap, you just want something different.

Best thing to do is just try and create a giveaway for a game before buying it, and if during the first step (entering the name) the game isn't shown, don't but it. Not sure why there's an easily accessible list of games that have been bundled, but not one for games that have been giveaway-disabled.

actually, no:
Store-price -95% off games can be removed from the list when base price reduces. Happened to Wolfenstein NB and Evil Within.

And if you are wondering why is that, it is because some people can hold on to keys for a veeeeeeeeeeeeery long time. Heck, a funny story: a few months ago (maybe later, but it is still somewhere in the game's forum, among all the sea of begging) some person decided to check if his Mafia 1 Steam gift he got a while back would be worth something in trading. The game was removed from the store four and half years ago and usually goes for 3-500 dollars in Steam gift form…

what discount percent is required for steam store games to be considered bundled?

95% off across all regions.
russia usually has the lowest price, so it's usually the reason why most games in the steam store are bundled when they reach ~80% off.
