Yeah, it's kinda weird. Though might not be possible. Depends on EA and how they went with them...

12.11 it seems on gog.com. Might pop out then on Steam too.

I believe I read that at first Wasteland 1 will be an exclusive for backers, but will later appear for sale on Steam.

Yeah, I think all of the "exclusive" games thus far were released on Steam after a couple of months.

from the pictures on GOG this isnt the orig version ..

The one I played, the text was all references to the VERY THICK manual. YOu never knew what to do unless you looked in the manual for the story.
