There's a summer sale at the Xbox Marketplace. Any games on that list which you think are worth getting?

Borderlands 2 for 800 points was awfully hard to pass up yesterday, so I didn't.

Divinity II is an interesting RPG, especially for $5. The mechanic of swapping between human and dragon adds an interesting bit of variety.

Not sure, mostly same games you can Steam. It annoys me that when they do those decent sales, they don't put the PC stuff they carry on sale also.

Prey is interesting, and is no longer available on the Steam store (retail codes activate though).

Had some spare MS. Grabbed Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway. Played the demo years ago and loved it, never got around to playing the full game. Thanks for telling us!

I really dislike buying digital games on xbox live (I already bought max payne 3 for 5€ in march) my xbox hard disk is small (60gb IT IS SO TIIIIINY) and I cannot keep all the games on my hd. I'm worried that with the new xbox one close to launch they'll close all the 360 servers and I'll be no longer able to download that particular game I bought. :I

I have the same fear, and I've almost filled my 320gb...

I doubt they would do that they are releasing a new 360 this year it wouldn't make sense to do that

They won't turn off the download servers while they're still stocking 360s in stores. You have a few more years before the stuff is unavailable to download.

Yeah, a few more years :(

yeah " a few more years" is not enough for me, I don't want to buy a game that I will not be able to obtain in 2 years. I'll just buy a used copy for just the same price or even lower in the future D:

Most of the time, I don't care if I won't be able to play a game 10 years from now. Good games that are console exclusive and worth replaying down the line aren't common enough for me to fret over. Besides, its hard for me to justify replaying anything these days when I've got a stack of games that I haven't played once.

I bought a 360 last year and created a US account, even though I live in Greece, in order to get games at a better price. I bought US microsoft points and tried using them, but whenever I try buying anything other than Arcade games, I get this message: "Sorry Your purchase cannot be completed at this time. Please try again.".
I do use the "pay with points" option, but the only "proper" game I've been able to purchase is Skyrim. All the other games I've tried buying (again with the exception of their Arcade titles) give me the same message. As expected, I can't buy anything from the current sale. Does anyone know of a solution? It's annoying.

MM i don't know, you can change the region of your account, try going here:
https://live.xbox.com/it-IT/AccountMigration (it might be in italian)

I actually saw that and tried it before posting, but I couldn't find Greece in my migration options. USA was an option, but doesn't work since the account is marked as US. It's crazy.

I'm pretty much in the same situation, I haven't used my xbox at all these past few months but with MS announcing free games with Xbox Live gold, I thought it would be worth subscribing again for 3 months at 40% off just to get the free games. Turns out they won't let me download anything, neither from the console nor the website, paying with points or real money, and changing location doesn't work either.

If Greece isn't part of the supported Xbox Live countries, you won't be able to buy most games on demand because of the damn ip lock (some DLC should be available to you in some in-game stores though). Your only bet is VPN but it's not guaranteed to work, it's not secure and it's not generally free. If you managed to grab Skyrim maybe there are others though...

I've had this problem since last year, while Greece was in the supported countries list. Might try the VPN thing.
I do have a second (Greek) account which I used to redeem some free games when I bought the console (Halo Reach, Fable 3, Gears of War 2), but I haven't tried buying anything there.

I added you on Steam. I will tell you more details over there. :)

If Greece is a supported country then you should be able to buy any game on demand, as long as you're using your Greek Xbox Live account at least.

I guess I'm lucky then. I've had no problem buying games from the US, and I'm paying with PayPal.

Those are actually pretty good sales. Think if the Xbox One did go DRM. They would've been steam for console.

And PC's are so 30 years ago. :)

Yeah, I'd prefer to buy games for my tablet, but the selection is somewhat limited. I'm waiting for the 25th to see how Shadowrun Returns turns out and what it costs on Google Play.

feel sorry for you if you are running 30 year old tech in your pc

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

No, I'm running mainly 2-4 year old tech (probably one of the disk drives and a monitor are over that, like 6-7 years). Although the case is from this year and I'm going to upgrade the motherboard to a new one (although technically it's 2 year old tech, AMD 990X chipset).

That's of course not discussing the age of the actual tech, not the age of the product. Something like a DVD burner is a lot older, tech wise.

And I'm sorry for you if you're running a 10 year old console. Well, I'm not, you're probably enjoying it if you are. I know a lot of people enjoy playing 20 year old console (and PC) games. And user experience on old consoles was a lot better than on old PC's.
