I don't think selling or trading invite codes for this site is unusal. I think the more important question is if Steamgifts needs more new registrations, or fewer new registrations. Or if it is good just the way it is. (My guess would be that a lot of people use the site very intensely in the beginning, but seldom after a few days/weeks)

I just followed Twitter entries about Steamgifts to find that most of them are Russian sellers of invite codes like: http://twitter.com/#!/radideneg or http://twitter.com/#!/antichat
I just feel this site is going nowhere. There's no good in it...
