I found a region locked game (red exclamation mark) in my Steam inventory yesterday, but it wasn't that before. I got it long time ago, so what happend now? Any information would be great about this. Thank you.

No you cannot.
And apparently now Valve locked gifts even if they were bought before the big region lock incident

What will happen if you already activated the game on your profile?

Don't know if it's still work. But i tried it some time ago and it worked. But that requires a Activation trough VPN ips. This way i activated my copy of Dead Island.

Nothing as far as I know, as long as it's not activated with VPN

You are right. Its a new change on Steam that Regiolocked gifts marked red on your inventory. Got this myself on some Dead Island Epidemic Gifts and a ibb&obb Gift. This all were already locked but now its shown wich region.

Its a great change because you can see if someone trys to trade a Locked Game.

Unfortunatly you still cant change a Region lock.

Keep in mind that activating a game using a VPN is against Steams TOS...so its risky

Source or never happened ... you don't actually believe that its risky do you lol?
They wouldn't do shit anyway - brand you as a bitch? Lol thats not possible, more likely if at all (which hasn't occurred either) is:
they lock your game to the designated region or in worst case lock it to be unplayable or remove it - and i don't know of any cases.

They probably wouldnt do anything about it...but it is against the TOS so theoretically they could.
Never heard that they actually did.
Just saying you have to know what youre doing there.

Not sure and i haven't tried, but some friend told me this (if someone could confirm that would be nice):

  • activate some region-locked while you're in country XY > go back to your country (cough cough VPN)
  • wait 3 months and you can play it in your region without vpn or anything.

It seems to me the serial keys are gonna be more valuable than Steam gifts for now.

The gift was region-locked all the time, but Steam didn't show it, probably due to a bug (that is now resolved).

EDIT: serial keys have the same region locks as gifts, but you must know from which country they were bought.

Awww...nevermind. Luckily we got steamgift.com where we can offer our unusable games.
