I went for level 5 this time round. I'm kinda disappointed in the badge this time round, like other times I've gone up into the 30s, even the 40 one at a certain point. I mean I do like that final snow flake but at the same time its a snow flake and not worth 35k extra

See I actually like the snowflake more. I mean the red riding hood snowman isnt to bad but its one of those things where if I went that high whats a few k more. The red panda is nice though I dont think I own one of them and I guess I can just save up for the 2 next year. Plus when I go back to look at emojis and backgrounds I will have some points for those which I did run out once

Meh, I just go with badge I like art most since you still cant "downgrade" the art.
This year it was lvl 3 for me so thats a win.

That is one really annoying aspect. What is I like level 8 and 10 equally but don't always want to showcase level 10? I wish steam would let you display whatever level you want of the levels you've purchased!

There should def be "badge inventory" where you own ALL the badges. It would be bit filled with seasonal stuff, yes, but all games have 5+Foil only so it wouldnt be bigger than peoples card collection!

Oh wow man, thank you for this. I completely forgot about this other badge that you can only get with points. Went for level 5 one since it is the cutest and it just pushed me to steam level 145 so double win!

I wasn't aware this was a thing, and the whole concept seemed kinda silly; spend point for some pixel badge?
...but then I realized that I have 16000 points...so why not spend 1000 :-P

This gives me "oblivion dlc" ptsd vibes. $10 for a badge, level 40 badge equates to $400 spent, 4x a year for each season, not counting all the other emotes, backgrounds, avatars, profile showcases they make. These badges are the worst model they've presented so far. Looking at new game releases I'm starting to think in a few years we wont even buy games anymore we'll just buy badges to buy badges to buy badges and the satisfaction will be some sort of gambling machine.
I liked the point shop as an opportunity to get backgrounds or emotes for games where they are way overpriced like $30 for a background or something. Point shop exclusive items I find toxic especially when they come with a $10 price tag to start. You can buy multiple games for that money.

On the plus side, people give so many comment/review awards that the points stack up free, and there are only so many emotes to buy with said points. I'm almost always hovering around 150k points outside of twice a year when I grab the Steam Sale badges, where my total dips to like 110k.

I never redeemed the first badge that they had available through the point shop...
So I can't just start out of the blue and have only a part of the collection, and never actually be able to be up to day, would drive me crazy haha

I just redeemed the level 1 badge, then the level 2, level 3, then when I noticed I could go straight to the top, I redeemed the level 30 badge.
Did that using cellphone browser (Edge).

You can only ever show 1 particular badge, at whatever level you buy. So, if I get the level 5 of this badge, I'll never be able to show level 4.
And they started this seasonal badge before i had a steam account, so I'm in a similar situation--but I don't care. Just get what you like.

The pointshop and the pointshop badges were introduced in 2020 π
From what I recall the season badge, and the point shop season badges are different, aren't they???
Or is it just with non main seasonal events where that's a thing? Because there's seasonal point shop badges for seasons/sales that don't drop any cards, so the only way to get them then would be the point shop. But I was always under the impression the point shop badges, and the seasonal badges were completely separate badges.

You are correct, yes. I was mistaken.
The seasonal event badges are only available during those sales and a bit after. The point shop seasonal badges are available until the next Major (Summer/Winter) sale.

The Summer 2025 Badge Collection is up right now.
I intend to update this thread from every Summer & Winter Sale with the new badges.
All the badge requires is spending steam points, and you get those by spending money on the steam store. It does not require spending Real World money--unless you lack the required number of steam points. You get 100 points per dollar spent in the steam store. I believe that money spent on the community market does not grant points.
The available Seasonal Badge on the Steam Points Shop page updates during the Summer & Winter sales. When the next badge releases, the current badge will be unavailable to purchase.
You can purchase all levels at one time or you can purchase them piecemeal. If you purchase one badge, and then later want to purchase a higher-level badge, you only pay the difference between the level that you have and the level you are purchasing. Eg: The level 40 badge requires 40,000 points. If you already have the level 10 badge, you only pay 30,000 additional points to get the level 40 badge (a total of 40,000 points.)
Each level of this badge gives you 100 additional XP towards leveling up your steam account, up to a massive 4,000 XP for purchasing the Level 40 badge!
