It's pretty awful.

Some of these people are 19 years old. I don't understand.

I stopped watching at 2:40. I couldn't handle it anymore.

I'm probably just overreacting. What are your thoughts on the video?

I'm 19 and grew up with an NES. Too bad my mom made me gave it away -- . The dude I gave it to, his dad eventually threw it in the trash... such a damn waste. I played my NES for hours back as a kid anyways. The Legend Guardian was one of my favorite game on that :o . Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, played it over and over until I beat it but naw, got to Shredder and gets 1 hit KO. I remember playing Deadly Towers (you will die frustrating deaths). Legend of Zelda, Super Mario Bros 1-3. Castlevania 2. Oh duck hunt, I walk up to the TV and put it point blank to get a shot. Sometimes I got to shake the game while its in the tray or blow it a bit to get it going. I remember some games with save game settings, you got to input those complicated codes. Most of my friends back in the days when they have old games, they blow it, for me, I hit it, and it works. I wish I have my old NES back though... but since I was still 14 or 15 back then, parents kept threatening to toss it out -- .

Lol at the teenagers complaining about uncomfortable controller. The NES is pretty simple.

Nintendo isn't dying, granted the Wii-U undersold, they have so much damn money it isn't a big deal. 3DS is doing fine and so are game sales, I still buy those games and so do millions of other people.

Just because you dislike it doesn't mean its dying....

The company's in its third year of financial loss and it has nothing to do with me disliking it. Nintendo's also starting to lay off employee's as well for the first time since I can remember. I used to love Nintendo, but after the 100th Mario game I realized it was crap. There's nothing I would love more than to see them turn it around, get some new franchises and produce a really awesome gaming console to play on. I'd be first in line to buy it.

TLDR Version: Mario Bros. was released in 1983 and there have been over a 150 games featuring him since then. It's time to move on.

Haha dude do you release how many companies have bad times and are fine, Nintendo is NOW selling fine and will be doing even better once the new Zelda and Smash Bros release, these are some of the highest selling games. I linked you two current games that they recently released, millions are selling.

As of now Wii U is the struggle and one bad system(well not bad, underselling mostly) wont put them in the gutter, nor will the games, if it did Virtual Boy and Powerglove would have spelled the end a while ago...

Nintendo is going anywhere and those games YOU think are old and redundant people still buying them by the buttloads because they are FUN.

Just like Kabob said "Yeah makes sense, their most popular games are killing them"....

...I can't make it through this, faked or not. >_>

I'm not that much older (23), and the NES was what I grew up with. I played the thing every day before school... and after. Hell, mine still plays games the first (or second with some of my secondhand cartridges) time I put a cartridge in, and the system was in the house before I was. It was my mother's, and she bought it bundled with a grey Zapper, ROB and a couple games. By the time I was born, the collection of games and peripherals had grown, so I was spoiled by my first encounter with a console. <3

I own some great retro consoles. Atari 2600, Intellivision, Sega Master System, Game Boy Classic, Game Boy Color (bought this one a few days ago) and one of those Nintendo Famicom clones (there were a lot of those in Brasil back in the 80/90's)
Still play every one of those (except for the Intellivision, needs some repair on the NTSC crystal)

I'm gonna assume a good chunk of this crap is staged to get people angry and posting about it. It's like Kotaku, but with actual children instead of manbabies.

As someone who didn't grow up with the NES - it hosts a lot of crapware, but lord, once you sift through it, you'll find some gems. Castlevania still has some of my favorite gaming memories. Hearing vampire killer for the first time? Absolutely wonderful.

Heh, I never beat Castlevania 3. Maybe I'll go do that now, just so something good comes out of this.

Its not as though its so outlandish that some of these reactions are genuine. Most people get really confused by technology that's older than they are. I grew up with NES, and yet I've still never played Metroid, and I've never heard of Dragon Warriors 3.

And the actual games were tiny, inside huge plastic cartridges.

I think its because people associated value with size, and it took a long, long time to convince people that you can have the same great things in smaller packages. Look at the evolution of physical music, especially the transition of CD packaging.

NES was a massive innovation compared to previous titles such as Commodore 64 and Atari consoles, the games were alot more complex with games such as Mario Bros and Castlevania and the controller also was something innovative at the time.

That's a picture of a Nintendo Family Computer, which is, for the most part, exactly the same as a NES, except that it came out sooner, included a microphone (although I can't think of a single game which used it), and was about a sixth of the size.

Same. I'd never actually seen a real-life NES before - I spent the entire video gawking at the incredible size of the thing.

I wouldnt know shit about the NES and I was a kid back when it was introduced into the US, I never played it, I didn't know anyone that had it, and I hate super mario (played it on the GBC) probably the only good game in the list of top selling games they mentioned to me would be dragon warrior. during my younger years, I was too busy playing games on my pc (text adventures, zork, might and magic etc) so this isn't that horrendous to me. their reverence for past technology though is a little appalling...

So what exactly is the issue here? Teens not knowing about an old system?
They don't "claim" to be gamers and know sh$t... they are just kids. So what's the problem?
I could ask 99% of you to mention 2 or 3 games from the ColecoVision and you wouldn't know, so?

EDIT: What's with the blond asian dude?

+1 Some of the kids aren't even gamers so it's perfectly fine that they don't know what an NES is. And even if a gamer doesn't know, so what? It's only natural they don't know if they've only been interested in recent games.

Not a big deal. Why should people care about technologies behind their times? I don't give a shit about vinyls despite being alive when they were still the main musical media.

I don't understand why people said they are idiots or don't understand about quality of games or whatever it is.
They are the new generations, of course their quality of standards will be different than us.
Same as a phone. Now it is rare to see someone uses an old version of phone. Most of them use smartphones and they will despise old phones and I think that is natural.
You guys said they have no quality of playing games and they will say the same for you still like old games because of nostalgia.
This is 2014, not 90s or 80s.
Well, this is my opinion, if you don't like it or hate it, I am sorry, okay...

And what's wrong with that? Can you please explain it to me? They have no right to not remember this? It's making me angry that so many people here are looking at world only from their perspective, I am reading these comments and everyone is complaining about those teenagers. What's wrong with you people? They are living in other time, they don't know it, IT'S NORMAL. Do you know how everything about you ancestor things? Maybe your grandfather should be angry at you because you never rode on penny-farthing? Should your grandma be angry because you never made laundry with your own, bare hands? Maybe my dad should be angry at me because I didn't live in communism and I don't know how it is to wait all day long in queue to buy toilet paper?
Grow up people because only 1 who looks like idiot in this topic are you with your "first world problems".

We are complaining as gamers, In regards to teens playing on there wii but do not know what a NES is, I expect most young people to be gamers during these times, but they should at least know the history yo! No need to get bad about it, I am superior to those teens because I had a NES and SNES and watched Doug on Nickelodeon yay me.. ;)

Also I think your dad would be happy that you did not "live in communism"

Really? Is it so bad that those teens didn't know about SNES? First of all, nobody should know about every single damn console. Get your stupid ass down from the nostalgia throne. If I told you to name old CPUs and GPUs, 90% of you would go to the internet to search and then come here act like you knew. SNES is old, really old. I was born in 1996 and never owned a console other than a Gameboy (which I lost) and a PS2 which I still have. Never got an SNES or a Genesis or an Atari. Heck, I don't even know how the Genesis looks like, as well as many other old consoles. When I was born, I wasn't playing games, and even the Gameboy was someone else's that gave it to me for unknown reasons. And seriously... Stop saying all the damn time how those consoles are still the best. THEY AREN'T. For their times they were innovative and a great way to pass your time. Now, they AREN'T. The only reason I would buy one is so I can feel the greatness of owning a part of the gaming history. I don't see why I, or anyone else, should go and find out about the older consoles. They are boring and a waste of time. Yes, I will play Pokemon Red if I get the chance to do so, yes I will play Final Fantasy 1, 2 and 3 (already played them all), BUT I'm NOT going to say they are great, because they aren't. They WERE, and no teen has the obligation to know about them. So STOP acting like butthurt people, because that's how you act.

If you did have an SNES or Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, you would appreciate for what they brought to gaming, Games like Chrono Trigger and Super Mario World still hold their own today and I would play Chrono Trigger over most RPGs anyday, I understand what you are saying about the teens, but saying the previous consoles are not great in todays standards in not a fact but an opinion.. we owe alot to these systems, of course todays games and technology are vastly superior, but they are not bad systems at all

also what are you talking about those games are great, especially Pokemon...
