It should be less effort than posting a much longer post here and waiting for an answer.

googling this
"Do xbox one wireless controllers work with pc and what type of cables they need ?"
would give him every answer...

If you have Windows 10 and the latest creators updates, you should be able to use it wirelessly, if your pc supports it. Otherwise, a micro USB cable is relatively cheap. I'm sharing the one that came with my craplet (tablet) as it's charger.

They do work, the cable is standard micro usb. If the controller is wireless, you have Bluetooth and you are on windows 10 it will work wirelessly as well, at least mine does. My controller is Model: 1708 if that helps.

You don't need a special cable, any micro USB cable (like a smartphone one) will work.
However the second revision of the controller works in wireless mode without any adapter as long as you have bluetooth connectivity: check if the controller is the original version or the revision. You can check the upper bar where the Xbox button is located: the first version has a glossy finish, while the revised bluetooth one is opaque.

Hi, I buyed one recently, works perfect with bluetooth (if is a X-box one S) and wired with a usb-micro usb standard cable.
If you have troubles with bluetooth you must actualizate the control driver, for that use the xbox accesory app for windows 10.
The cable can be any cable of this type , with a 3-4 dollars cable works fine, I personally recommend that you save money for later buy the Play and Charge Kit and don't have to buy rechargeable batteries later.

Yeah, any micro usb to USB cable will work.
If you want it to work wireless, unless you upgrade to W10 and your PC has bluetooth AND it's the S version (which you should get regardless since the bumpers on the original are hot trash), you'll need the microsoft dongle, and unless you play on a TV or something away from the PC, I wouldn't really recommend it.

As i said above, yes. The left one is the S version. They are visually identical otherwise.

If you're on Windows 7 and you don't care about wireless, maybe try a wired Xbox 360 controller instead? I've been using one for years, with both Windows 7 and Windows 10. The cable is long, so I don't even care that it's not wireless.
